Friends,I want to share with you my pride and joy......my E38!Year of make: 1996Colour: Calypso RedModel: 728iStock standardPlease view pictures when I first got the car.....

Now view upgrades..................

Colour co-ordinated bumpers/lower skirt
18" inch style 93 with tyres
Upgrade aftermarket lights with angle eyes
Chrome meter rings
Ori paint job detail (needs a little more work and a cleaner interior)

More detailed and larger pics to follow......

I love the E38 with every passing day.....its an awesome ride

Awesome pics of your ride bro. :top:

Really wish I could own an E38 someday. Haha. :D

looks like my next car, just waiting for prices to drop below 20K and here i come heheheheh

Eggie/KGB - thanks! With current prices and well versed mechanics who know the car well, I think the E38 728i is well within reach. If can play E32, I think E38 boleh lor......

Mizhan - thanks! Aftermarket Taiwanese headlamp and side indicator from WRC Sunway. They have two choices, clear and black face. I chose clear to match the chrome look

DigitalPunk - thanks bro! With your advice and AndrewK's, I went to WRC Sunway. Cost me RM1.8k. This I found to be a better option than the chop shop who was charging me RM3.5k for a complete facelift set and that too with a bent fender and orangy headlamps!!!

Current angle eye is yellow. I tried finding a way to change it to white, but no luck as it is inbuilt. Changing to white bulbs without HID leads to poor vision...stylish, but impractical. Now considering to go down the HID route, but worry with various comments on non compatability with electronics etc.........

Changed front windscreen which had a hairline crack that very quickly grew to look like dreadlocks!!!! Had a few options: -

1. China made glass - when I looked at the glass, it had ridiculous uneven curves and looked really thin. I gave it an immediate skip
2. Singapore paralell import Sicurvis Ori BMW OEM glass manufacturer - this was the right balance between BMW Ori (RM3.5k) and China made (RM1.1k)
3. MSG - Malaysian made that looked as good as the ones made in China!!!!

Removing the windshield was a painful sight!!!! But must say the guys were thoroughly professional and knew their stuff. After 8 hours of hard work, the end product is magic. I like the fact that I do not need to look through a stained and scruffy 15 year old windshiled any longer......

Will post pics of the process soon

And off course....how can I forget the E38 Guru who I consistently go to for verification and advice on anything E38 related.....Uncle Vince

I am still learning about the E38 What's good is E38 is a small community, thus we keep close contact and share.

Wow! those headlights bling! bling!

Those chop shop guys sometime quotes crazy prices. Andrewk was very lucky that he got the conversion kit at very very good price.

Serjit, did you see the posting for Vanos seal replacement by Herbert? I think you should get a set.

Hi ssman.

Nicely done! Really like those instrument rings (?). Mind sharing where I can get those done and the costs. Also those wheels! They look good. Possible to repost the exterior pix with the wheels as your post came out rather small. Thanks in advance.

Hi Vincent.

Saw the thread re vanos seals. Are they still available? Thought I read that orders have stopped.

Regards.

I think there is a "open" 3rd batch order

Haha. Yes. The E38 is one car that I must have in my dream garage. Still content with the E32 I'm using, but of course, nothing beats the sensation of driving a really nice E38.

Btw, are the headlamps clear? Always though angel eyes wouldn't be too bright, considering that the light is concentrated in that narrow roundish bulb?

Bro Vince - thanks for the advise. I am placing my order now for the seals!!!! This is what they call "racun"????

Bro Han Azman - thanks bro! Chrome rings from Lionel of Bimmers Garage (call him on 0163611212). Tell him Serjit intro you to him. His chrome rings are good. RM150 with Lionel. Will post detailed pictures soon. These pictures were taken at my friends place with my mobile phone. Will snap some real good pictures with a decent camera and then post......

Bro Eggie - lights are clear bro and does the job. I am contemplating HID though.....

how much for after market lights? How much better are the as compared to OEM ones? Do they worth the money?

Thanks in advance.

Bro KGB - details on pricing and where to procure in the thread above. To me, it is way better and brigther than my ori lights which were like 15 years old. So no complains there. For even better performance, consider HID. Do note, there are limitations if your car is a pre-facelift model. There is some work to do to facelift to new lights. In this scenario, the cost effective option is aftermarket.....
