Hi guys!Well out F10 2012 (CKD) has served us really well. Besides a faded AC button, its still fantabulous. I now know why once you buy a BMW, you cannot buy anything else. However, I don't think I can say the same for the aftersales in AB Glenmarie (ABGM)1. Since I took the car last year till today, my iDrive Internet does not work. When I went for my first oil change, I was told that they have to reinstall my iDrive software. So I made a second appointment and met the SAME service advisor, who then brought in the mechanic to take a look at the car. The service advisor said I need to update the BMW iDrive system, via iPhone, so I then plugged in the iPhone and then he told me, I need to get the BMW app (the red icon one) from the App Store. So I got it, then I tried to connect but nothing. Then he tells me that iPhone 5 is not supported, but I told him even on my stone age 3GS (which is older than even the F10 model), it still does not work. He said, no it is the phone that is not supported. So okay. When the mechanic took the car for a drive, he did tell that the CKD models have no internet, and showed me that I should have ConnectedDrive on the home, and not BMW Connected. I then went to cross check with the sales brochure which says internet included. So now I have 3 versions of the story, and I don't know which is right!I decided to follow the steps as per detailed in the forum, plugin to the center console, then update services, and try and launch, but all I get is a no connectivity error. Just gave up on it, rather spend time on the road than fiddling with the internet anyway
2. The service level at AB GM is not what I expected from the brand though. From the sales experience (I was told the M Sport F10 is available in Havana, booked and paid, only to be told it was not available at all, car was sitting in the dealer for a month, cause they were too busy with Raya, when I told I wanted it preferably before Raya, on delivery day, document not there, paperwork was not done right), plus the service at the same place is really meh la. I mean like the same exact engine oil (Helix Ultra - think it was 5W40) which is sold by Shell and other brands outside ABGM, at about 2/3 of the price (I bought the same oil, same quantity for another car outside the day before), plus the so called BSRI which I think is not really explained well to the customer. It seems that BSRI only is covered if you follow the computer and change the oil when the service comes on the car. I did mine at 10000km, as many people I know who have BMWs (and also the sales person) said its best to do the oil change at every 10k cause of the climate (and this applies to the four ring brand too), to keep the engine at tiptop condition. At this oil change, I was informed that the 10000km is not covered under BSRI, and only the 20, 40 and 60k are covered. They could have at least told me at the start. Less confusion. In comparison to another non-German (but Conti brand of the same price range-shall not name here), they provided better service, under warranty claims too, they came and took the car from me, and gave me a loaner, and even returned it back too. Not once but 2 times. Plus, they really went the extra mile, including getting the parts flown in on a Sunday to make sure they can fix it ASAP. It is just that, after this experience, I am not really sure if it is worth sending back to them after the 2 year warranty finishes. That is why I am now contemplating, at the end of the second year, should I just send it out to my regular mechanic who used to do my Japanese and Koreans last time? I do know that these Contis have a lot of electrics, and I don't want to screw it up. And I also realised every time I go to my dealer, they do check my key with the PC and print out a report which shows everything i do with the car. If this was a Japanese, I won't mind but this is a BMW, worried to send out too, but it is not like AB is any better at solving problems too.Anyone has started sending their F10s out of the dealer network? Any interesting things? Also, how did you guys manage to reset the service info?I still am in love with this german though. Some kind of 'magic' or poison in it, once you taste it, you cannot leave it.Thanks guys and happy driving with your UDMs. Cause it is really THE UDM.
