Hi,

I have a 12/2012 528i F10, bought from Quill. I had my fair share of issues in the sales process which is well documented in this forum.

Dec 2014, i was due for 1st official services at 28K. Yes, i dont drive allot as i travel quit a bit for work.

I went back to Quill, i complained about having some knocking sound on the steering wheel when turning or even when idle or deceleration. They checked and said nothing wrong and said such noise is normal. I should have escalated them but i was on a rush.

Now, since last 1 month, when i start engine, i get the "Service Due since 2000" notice. Also, my washer fluid has finished. Given i had never topped up my washer fluid since i bought the car and in lasted for 2 years, should the service guys not top up washer fluid water when i sent the car in for service in Dec?

NOw i'm annoyed with the lackadaisical attitude of the Quill PJ service staff. 1st, they belittle my complain about the knocking sound on the steering and did nothing, then the car key wasnt sync well so now i get service warning, then they never filled water into the Washer Tank for winscreen, what else did they miss?

Do you know if they keep records of what all they do during service? I would like to go back and ask them for records.
Secondly, have you encountered same problem of knocking sound in the steering?

Thanks,
Goks

you should service your car every 10k instead of 30k! 30k is too long! if you keep on servicing your every 30k, you engine will get fcked sooner or later. I have seen it happened bro. worse come to worst, just pay the servicing yourself if its not covered under bsri. regarding the servicing, yes they should have the records. but you need to email a request to them. if i am not mistaken, if under bsri, they won't show you the records as they don't want to reveal the cost (thats what AB told, bloody a$$holes!)

Time to go back to Quill and ask them rectify your knocking problem but your warranty has ended so it will be bloody hard to get them to do it on goodwill basis

As for your service interval..30k interval is way too long. Many owners had engine sludge issues and can be a costly repair.

On your washer fluid, thanks for reminding me to ask them to check. I've not touched mine in 1.5 years and there has been cases whereby the hoses connected to it will be filled with slime coz of prolong stagnant of water and will clog it up so remember to use it every now and then to avoid that.

Sometimes you really need to tell them every single thing that you want them to check on. It's the same for every dealer I'm afraid as I've tried another dealer before (Ingress) and they are no better than Quill. In fact I get more issues solved in Quill than Ingress so I'm contented with Quill at the moment.

If your warranty has expired, you may try AutoDeutch at Pandan. Very professional service and they will explained in details before you make the decision.

Again, as I have posted before earlier, BSRI is a marketing gimmick that BMW sells to get consumers to buy their car without having to worry about the cost of maintenance or breakdowns. Obviously a brand new car sold will be able to run to 60,000km without any problems. Its what happens after 60k that matters. That's why BSRI is usually sold together with a 60,000km limited warranty after which you are entirely on your own.

Quite an effective marketing gimmick as it was one of the deciding factors that led me to buy my BMW.

cheers and peace out bros!
