bringing you boys back to the topic.....

RX8 for your WIFE?.....either you love her very much or otherwise. Love her cos you give her a nice sports car to drive......otherwise, cos it's not a car for the fainthearted when driven hard and I think even I will struggle in the wet.

frankly, not being a MCP - better consider other choice if indeed it for the mrs!

OKie back to topic :)

IN that 100-150K region, there are plenty of options after taking into account of maintenance given the fact that this car will travel 120km/day.

1) VW Polo and Golf
2) Peugeot 308
3) Used or Recon Mini Cooper
4) Honda Insight (98k)
5) Toyota Prius

Having had an extended brief drive in an auto RX8, it's not so bad lah... it handles well and being an NA rotary engine it's easier to drive unlike the wilder nature of the turbo-ed RX8 FD... However, like i mentioned, fuel consumption is horrible for the 4 speed auto. Manual maybe better but still it'll be a guzzler...

Not a good choice for daily commute although I know ppl who does.. Just have to stomach the fuel cost, have to be 'fed' with RON97... So it would be more than 2x compared to a Kelisa in terms of fuel cost.

Jules, I know quite a few ladies who drive the RX8 as a daily drive. Its actually very very decent, even when pushed. Well balanced car and mostly, very forgiving in its handling. I think its very different from the turbo'ed FDs RX7....

We went for a test drive at VW Glenmarie. Starting with vw golf 1,4TSI followed by Polo 1,2 TSI. Then I gatal-gatal opened my mouth to test drive the GTi. And the rest was history. My wife is driving a GTi now.

Yourself ? er, dun tell me the 'e39' ?... hehehe

RX-8 is out of the option list now . Apart from the fuel , i think this car will put me in line of fire if not carefully maintained . Therefore i m going to propose on polo .

The toyota FT-86 is a stealer as well.. but long way to wait.

At the moment, yes. Still the E39 because I don't have a valid reason to sell. The GTi serves another purpose - as my trump card if I want to get a 'mid-life crisis' car later in the future. She already got her 'sports car'.

The Polo a good car. Driving it feels like driving a big car. Very quiet and stable. Car of The Year some more. At 108K, it is difficult to go wrong. This is the best part -5 years warranty some more (unlimited mileage). I am sure your wife don't want extra headache when she commutes daily to work. Just remember one thing, do not test drive the GTi.

To give yourself a fair chance go out and test drive the Fiesta. It is also a good car. According to Ford, this is their first global car. The 1.6 Fiesta feels very nimble and ever willing when pushed. I like the voice command thingy. Handling is superb. 0-100 is the same as Polo, just under 10 seconds. Top speed also same as Polo at 190km/hr. Fuel consumption - Polo wins. Technology wise - Polo wins. Driving dynamics - Fiesta wins. Refinement - Polo wins. Resale value - expect both to be horrible. Price wise - Fiesta wins at RM82K, together with 3 years warranty + 3 years free service. However, interest rate as per current interest rate. Waiting period for the white and blue Fiesta is 3 months. Other colours - 1 month. Mind you, the Fiesta is the cheapest '6 speed DSG' in town (they term it as powershift). Polo has 7 speed DSG dry clutch. If the rear seat occupants' comfort level is important, I don't recommend the Polo. Fiesta wins in this department. Both also CBU cars. Polo from South Africa, Fiesta from Thailand.

Ladies would normally fall in love with Fiesta's sexy looks. Guys would go for the Polo.

I was told the price is circa 260K to 270K.

Another good write up in a precise way .TQVM bro . I think if the ford is available for test drive , i would wana bring my wife , let her test drive the car for herself and decide. The ford look sexier than polo .

The first choice was Z4 , and then degrade to RX8 since Z4 is just 2 seater , and now degrade again to either polo or ford because RX-8 is a fuel guzler..pity my home minister.

Womens mind changes now and then . As i just changed to a E60 , she said ..' it my turn now '..;) and i say yes because the kelisa just dont have any safety feature at all .

If i am testing the polo.. i would certainly try on the GTI. Let the fate take its course...kekekeke

Once you tested the 1.4 TSI or GTi, then you will never look back on Polo. Like me, I know very well what I want for my wife, so I just get her to test the Polo and then straightaway book it without even go near to the 1.4 TSI or GTi. Afterall if we need to drive a powderful car, I have my 335i to satisfy ourselves anytime. And we need bigger space, we have a MPV to cater to it. So Polo is just nice for us especially for my wife :)

I know. Once u had the feel of something really good , it will be hard to resist.

Have you considered the Scirocco? Great looks for sure, damn nice design and not as common as the golf or polo.

Im sure the wife would be pleased.

How about the 1 Series?? Pre-own unit should cost about 90K to 130K? E46 Cabriolet is also another good option bro as its price range around RM110K to 140K currently. Nothing to worry about fuel consumption or repairs.
