Dear all, Recently had a chance to check out an M3 CSL. Very mean looking machine and needless to say, fast. However, how much is one expected to pay for a 8 year old car? Mint condition. Feel free to share your view. Thank you. Regards

Bitten by the M bug I see ;)

You are looking at 'royalty'! The best of the 3rd generation 3 series not to mention very very fast.

The closest you can get to a street legal race car!

Price? That's secondary. Her condition would be your primary concern.

If its mint go for it.

BlackCat, thanks for your comment. I do love it very, very much but I dont think I am ready to handle an M/// yet....though I was very close to owning an e36 M3 3.0 convertible last year but instead settle with a 328i convertible...sigh...but I still enjoy it very much :)

Supafly, I had always been impressed with your photos of your M3...lovely shots! And your simple equation is very poisonous to me......!! M3 x 2 my gosh!!!

Reason why I started this topic is I was hoping to hear from you M pros about the CSL. Perhaps in slight further future I could offer my friend again :)

Really look forward to meet you guys one day at TT to learn more about M cars...am totally new to it and have not reach that level.

Regards

i think m3 CSL in malaysia is very limited.
there's one for sale now i think...

are you referring to that?

No worries man, any time man...

Anyways, are you an avid high end timepiece fan?

Just remembered I once knew a guy with the same avatar name.

Just curious though, the proper CSL comes without air-conditioning unit and a lot of other "luxury" items removed as well. Were there options during purchase to have these "luxury" items included when it was bought new?

yen187, I am not sure which one it is you are referring but I know of 3 CSL as of now in Malaysia. It is super rare with just about 400 odd unit but somehow through friends and happen to know about it. Not sure if there are more around though.

BlackCat, yes I do love watches but not an avid high end timepiece guy laa....have we met?

Loafer, I am really not sure of the original spec but this one I saw come with air cond but very very basic.

Miz, it is not mine!! LOL...but if I do sure no problem....

tribena, I am not sure bout that but having test drove an M6 side by side, the M6 seems to give a stronger punch from its V10....I am no pro so cant really rely on my comment I guess....however, e39 M5 remains in a special place in me =)

Can't recall if we've met before... Then again, at me age memory do sometime fails me...

I know of one E46 CSL in the market here and have seen it and know the owner personally.

If that's the one, afaik, she's 'top-notch' and very well maintained tho' its not a stranger to the SIC...

The M3 CSL is a great car to own.

If I didn't have an M3, I'd buy Adam's CSL in a heart beat.
Is it worth RM 70-80k more than a 'normal' M3 ? In my opinion, Every single cent !

The engine is more responsive, and the shifting is a lot faster on the SMG II. It blips during
down changes as well. Both of this is because of the Alpha-N engine management system
which uses MAP instead of our regular air flow sensor and also a retuned SMG ecu.
Gotta love the downchanges on the CSL, although you can blip yourself on the normal M3.

The handling of the CSL is just superb. One quick run up Genting, and you'll know what I'm on about.

Also, you shouldn't be worried that it has been tracked quite regularly as these type of cars are built to take a beating.
Furthermore, when we track our cars, we would only go for 2-3 hot laps and come in. Not enduro style.
We will watch for oil/water temps all the time and make sure they don't get too high.

P/s. It's a waste if you have an M3 and have never track'ed it. :p

*Peace out !*

:dito: Yups... couldn't agree with you more! I'd gladly extend my garage to have this parked side by side with my ride...:59:
