(additional ask me change mounting on the gearbox)
2) M Speed quote - RM400

Both are cheap considering its for engine n gearbox mounting. I paid RM800 for engine, gearbox mount and long shaft coupling

yes aa?

did you see ah chee? tell him laa i recommend.. i'm sure he'll look after you .. i am very certain that his team will do a good job and you can lepak watch astro in the aircon room.. I never encountered chee charging extra... sorry man.

I strongly agree with guru abt ah meng being a cut throat! After reading a lot of great compliments from forummers in this and other forums, i decided to take my e46 to ah meng for so called "software update". As soon as i got there, he ask me to change so many bloody sensors! As if my 1 owner 2001 car was in bad shape. I did mention that im a club member hoping to get "better" price and service, yet nothing. It happened that my dashboard light said that my rear bulbs were blown and ask him to check it out. Wat he said? "I think u change to LED problem gone!" Yeah, like im f**king stupid! He also tried to con me saying that my DME rosak, need to change cost RM5,000. WTF i said, nevermind ill do it next time. That was the 1st and last for me. Ended up paying over RM800 for god knows wat (sensors) and yet no diff. Only diff was now my signal lights turn on when i lock my car. So back to the topic, I strongly AGREE with guru on the subject that he is a cut throat especially he sees a new face or club newbie. Please change that attitude coz its only hurting his rep coz on day its gonna come back and bite him on his a**. Btw, this is not my first german car. Had a 944s, 944turboS, 911 turbo 3.3, e36 M3, 635csi, 500sec, so I wouldnt consider myself noob or newbie in this eurocars club.

Peace.

There are tonnes and tonnes of unauthorised BMW specialists out there.. and bear in mind that personal recommendations posted here can either be sincere recommendations, or recommendations with a 'return favour' from the mechanic. ;)

However, if any of u do come across a 'recommended' mechanic who doesn't make the cut, please point it out here as a warning, but do not need to crucify the mechanic. This is to be fair to the mechanic as it could have been a genuine blooper. Nevertheless, if there is a sizeable number of negative comments on any particular mechanic, then others should start paying attention.

Also take note that not all mechanics are all-rounders, the mechanic maybe good in one area but not so in others. Another thing is to know the price of parts. Price quotes can be easily obtained by calling the parts dealers ie. Bavarian Auto, First Division, etc etc.

Cheers.

Me just giving my 2 cents as a bimmer owner. I would say a lot of u have the same thoughts, just to lazy to type.. :D

btw, my comment is not only directed for just Mspeed, which is the focus of this thread. It is applicable to other workshops/mechanics.

If you still wanna go to Prof. Dr Ir Meng workshop just make sure you not let his boy (2 orang) to touch your car....they love to use hammer instead of proper tools, your tyres bolt missing after repair, your clips missing after any covers they open, monkey hand black black mark all over of your car and they will claim they are highly trained by Prof. Dr Ir Meng. :D Yeeeeeeehaaaaaaaa.

i'm glad that i started this thread, I tot I sure kena from forummers here coz I kutuk him..
I also tot I was the only one kena from him..

Change

Be watchful with Dr. M, change is the name of the game. Nice chap though. But he likes to tell you how bad is your car and to make it good, change this and change that ...

there's no mistaking about it when Dr M walked away when things don work out with that wireman's job... RM70 to show his 'stripes'...

went to few workshop none of them able to solve my problem and keep asking me change this and that charge me this and that... getting frustrated and feel myself liked stupid fellow. Finally Kenny @ ah meng managed to solve my prob and the car can running smoothly..

If there any doctor here, they will be able to explain further.

Workshop Dr. is more or less the same. Many times when you are ill with less popular illness, we start to doubt the doc.

We always seek second opinion and do our own research.

sending my udm since i buy to m-speed, i dont have any prob with him, and i find that his price is reasonable, dont blame the mech, blame ourself if we dont find the good mech that will suit for us

Price wise is ok but like everyone says always recommend to change this and that. Finally went back to my current mechanic. Also I don't like the way his two monkeys use the hammer.

The best so far is BM world.. he never keeps your car there.. most of his customers dun return for a return job( half passed six)..

even a 318 e46 he can kautim a top overhaul within 1.5 days..

Even a black e34 M20 can be on the road the next day prior to CNY eve..

Wiring ? the best in town.. even other BMW sites can't sort out my wiring.. he can..

attitude ? cunning fellow but his poison is lethal..

agreed 101% he is good at his work! dont mind to pay a bit more....totally NOT a con!

i have been a regular at M Speed ...... initially at times annoying to bring car there because Ah Meng keeps highlighting regular e46 problems for e.g. that expansion tank should be changed at 60k kms. However, i as the customer, always reserve my right and just say no need lah and told him that if have to change so many things, i better sell my car off for a boring Toyota Camry instead. Call it unlucky or what, my expansion tank leaked at 69k kms and my car was stranded in the middle of the night for a few hours. So in this instance, i greatly regretted not taking Ah Meng's advice because that car breakdown experience was one of my worst experiences.

So, he has been my trusted mechanic so far and gets the job done for reasonable price. Even though M-Performance is just a stone's throw from where i work, i still go back to M-Speed in USJ.

I have not done anything costing > RM1.5k at any time (touch wood) but if something like 2k to 3k, it is wise to get a second opinion (like seeing another doctor for 2nd opinion if the 1st recommends surgery).

Just my 2 cents.
