I own a 1998 E39, 523. The car has a remote central locking system and what appears to be an "alarm". Sry sounds a bit stupid but the reason I say so is because if you lock it with the remote and then open with the key no alarm will sound!! On many occassions after the car is locked using the remote suddenly for no reason the "alarm" will start blaring. Notice that it tends to happen in mid afternoon sun. Heat or what ??Yesterday, using the remote i opened the doors. Started the car and the "alarm" went off!!! Happened twice.Grateful for your advise on what system this car has and what could be wrong with it.cheers

red clown nose is an indicator when the car is locked (light flashes at a constant normal rate). It's also an indicator (light flashes at a faster rate) if somebody tried to break into your car when parked. It's an indicator.

if i want to change the e39 alarm so that i can change the remote control as well then what should i change ?
