The best so far is BM world.. he never keeps your car there.. most of his customers dun return for a return job( half passed six)..

even a 318 e46 he can kautim a top overhaul within 1.5 days..

Even a black e34 M20 can be on the road the next day prior to CNY eve..

Wiring ? the best in town.. even other BMW sites can't sort out my wiring.. he can..

attitude ? cunning fellow but his poison is lethal..

Abang Pussy....12/05/07 Ah Wai charged me RM480 for repair kit on steering rack (M40)+ upah..after swipping my credit card and get receipt..only I realised there's another service charge for RM45..when I confronted him, he said it was for checking the engine overall condition by Ah Keong which I saw him did nothing!!
Then I asked Ah Keong what did he do (I was there untill my car finished with supafly).....Ah Keong said...saya dengar itu bunyi...waah ini macam ka? dengar

Then I jumpa Ah Wai...to refund my RM45 coz he already charged my credit card...

Finding a right mechanic suitable for our cars not to mention our wallet and our perangai can sometimes be more complicated than finding the right girlfriend, and dare I say, more important too.

Here my story.

Last Wednesday, I got urgent meeting at Kuala Terengganu at 9pm. I was informed about the meeting only at 5.30pm. Managed to booked MH flight on 7.50pm. While driving to KLIA, I noticed my radiator light come out. I parked my car at KLIA car park at about 6.50pm. I call bro Andrew aka NKTOB and he organize with Ah Meng to rescue my car. I passed my car key to my brother who working in the airport at 7.30pm.

Landed at Kuala Terengganu about 8.50pm, I immediately call Bro Andrew and guess what??? He is driving my car back to his place. Collected my car the next day without and extra charges on the damage (expansion tank). Ah Meng should ‘con me’ right with the extra charges. :) and he don't.

The thread title ConJob la we not really appropriate to me la we.:)

And I agreed with Bro Fabianyee. Maybe that is not his areas.

Peace. :)

bro yellow,

This is my story, I could have made a decision to change the computer box that fateful day, which would have set me back a good 2-3k..
I don't know how you might feel after finding out there was NO fault on the device and forking out 2-3k for something completely unnecessary.

Like I said, I felt that he was being selective on who was on the 'buddy list'..

The experience I have with this guy Ah Chee also similar to your story. I got 'introduced' to him by chance tho.. one day I was in old town on a rainy day..parked my car and left my lights on.. i called up a buddy and he sent Chee over ....anyways, he showed up in a huge merc with his pregnant wife and an assistant mech..he boot my car up and asked for nothing in return(btw this guy's shop in tmn. mayang and I never even met him before).. I felt he was genuine in assisting a customer's friend in distress.

Maybe you've already spent a fortune in Ah Meng's shop and he was obliged to come rescue your car..i don't know..but this guy Chee had nothing to do with me but he came over anyway..

*with regards to the expansion tank,Ah Meng seems to ask every customer to change it.. he asked me to change mine about a year ago too(does he have lots of stock? or got a good margin for this job?) and was adamant that mine will kaput soon and cause a breakdown by the roadside...maybe it's true for some ppl but FYI, my expansion tank is still in it's original form, that came with the car over 5 years ago.

So this is why I think M Speed is a con job. I know you don't feel the same way, it is just my opinion that i'm sharing.

It's good that you hold him in high regard, he is good to you for going out of his way to come rescue your car.

Having a good relationship with your mechanic will certainly affect the service you obtain to a large measure.

On the subject of mechanics going out of his way to help a customer, here's my story.

I was rushing to send my guests to the KLIA airport, when steam gushed out of my engine bay. My car was crippled by a detached water hose. It was about 6:30 pm, pass workshop closing time.

I called my trusty mechanic, who was with a customer at the moment. He came in his customer's car and resolved the situation by doing the following :

1. picked up my guests, and sent them to the airport so they would not miss their flight
2. double backed with several litres of mineral water purchased from a petrol station to rescue my car
3. fixed my car at the next petrol station; by then it was 8 pm.

His customer came along too, much to my gratitude, since he was in no way obliged to help me. Another sign of goodwill surrounding this mechanic.

So, what goes around comes around. A little relationship goes a long way. When you find such 'enlightened' suppliers, hang on to them.

Final note, relationship is a 2-way street.

Hello Guru,

I had similar shocking experience but I wudn't judge him to quickly though...

I had problem with central locking, power window, electric window, but strangely only on non-driver door portion - locking only driver, power window all kaput except driver, etc..
MSpeed straight away cucuk computer, all other penyakit also diagnosed. One of the identified culprit is the 'computer' box under the glove compartment (?). Estimation hospital bill close to 4k. Was shocked but challenged him to fix it, but still problem not solved. Then decided not to proceed with other penyakit, and amicably left.

He did not charge me a single sen after all the diagnosis, labour etc..

Went to another workshop, checked, eventually found out it was due to some wiring problem. Problem fixed, but it took days.

The difference is that Ah Meng relies on his computer diagnosis, but the other mech was an old school type, i.e. check one by one to nail down the problem.

Moral of the story, as mentioned by fabianyee before, no one super mech can solve all the problem. I also want to add computer diagnosis has some limitation.

..oh by the way, having the BMWClubMalaysia car sticker on the windscreen also helped me from kena sembelih from any mechs I go to... GO GET THEM!!

after reading, i also want to share. so far, Ah Meng manage to rectify all my problems. he also manage to get me to change things which i don't think its faulty but it is to him. however, his price is very high. only found out recently when i decided to compare prices. somemore he said his price for me is member's price.

i found this shop in setapak that is specialized in bmw, mini and mercedes. huge workshop, clean, bright and airy. they are actually panel for ming heng, yap's auto trading, keong heng, etc... the do PDI for all newly arrived cars. very professional and always use computer to check for problem. he manage to solve a few simple things which ah meng could not do like changeing my odometer from miles to km.

the mines to km you can do yourself also.. just press press only(consult your manual)

I don't know who this Ah Meng is coz I am from JB and have been following this thread for a few days already, refraining myself to add two cents because I have no personal experience with him. BUT if he and his computer skills can't do the above mentioned job then it's too bad that he calls himself a BMW specialist.

guru,

where can do yourself. i read through the thick manual back and forth several times already. if so simple Dr. Meng also cannot do ?
