Took my E46 for a spin on the trunk road during the Raya holidays from Ipoh to Lumut. Must say that it is a good drive compare to our normal NSE.Anyway on my way back from Lumut I encounter some starnge things. I was doing around 80-110km/h and when I start to slow down to like 30km/h something like that it seems tha tthe gear downshifted with a clunk everytime I do that. I had that experience most of the way back to Ipoh.Than I switch to sports mode and I do not encounter that jerk or clunk... and I switch back to the normal mode it is back to normal until today.Took it to the mech they said nothing much they can do as there is no error code and ask me to drive until the problem can be feel by them. They suspect is the gearbox. Anyone have this kind of experience mind to share with me what I am facing. It's been a week after that incident and now it is no where to be seen anymore..

yee, did the symbol "gear" plus "!" come on in the display when the jerking happens.

BTW, what is mileage clocked? Have you ever change the ATF and filter before?

If no alarm, it could be just a worn out contact for the gear shift. Happen one time to me for my E36 but not sure whether it applies for E46.

This proof UDM cannot drive slow wan. Must go fast all the time kakaka.

P/S: Must let the mech test the car, if possible BMW gearbox specialist.

Jarance, no light on the dash that is the problem..

Sent to the mech they ask me any lights or not if not very hard to diagnose moreover when I am at the mech the jerking stops..

My milage is 79K and have not change ATF as far as I know I dount the previous owner did. Mech told me usually they change at 100K.

Initial, Yes good sign to say don't slow down UDM are meant to soar over the road..

Any reconmendation of BMW gear specialist in Penang?

Faster change the ATF oil and filter. Use only original BMW gearbox oil. If your model is with tiptronix then make sure the oil is for tipronix gearbox model and its transparent in colour.

Cheers
