for that kind of money you should get a 325. power, handling and braking will be one notch better than the basic entry level model that the 4 pot is. if it were me, i would do exactly that. find a 325 for the same money. might be older, but it will at least have a nice 6 cylinder sound. and thats what bmw are famous for, inline 6ers. i bought my bmw for exactly that reason. if i wanted a 4 pot for economy and easy of maintainance i would have gone with honda who are the leaders in 4 cylinder tech and make a damn fine 4 pot car. and 76 is way to much to pay for even a nice e46, not when there are so many high spec ones at the 50k mark now.

i can hardly find any below 50 man. and im afraid that if i take one that is too low, especially from dealers then the condition (overall) might not be too good and i would spend more on maintenance after that.

normally when u consider buying a BMW for sure u did a hell lot of studies on this, been there done that.heheh.there is a lot more e46 out there cheaper than this but u should look closely on the car condition.most of us give a good input on maintenance/engine and performance parts.but by looking thru picture,i think this car looks much more better than mine when i first get my e46..clean intact interior and nice exterior also.

Bro, feel you. controlling withint budget is also another important thing, though i am willing to let go a bit.

From what I've experience, seen and heard from my workshop, 6cylinder tend to have less problem....
May not be true, but my M54B25 never give me any problem.

Good luck bro.

when tryiing to judge the value of the car what aspect do you look at? this car is 2004 with about 100k plus km. the tires are pretty ok. big ass rims. i am going to see it one more time tomorrow before i give him a deposit and take it for checks.

do you think i should go for it?
