Today at AB manages to drive f10 diesel. My verdict,Except for consumption, probably diesel gives a little bit more torque but if you are in sport mode you wouldn't feel the difference.Integral active steering makes the car feel more controlled and gives me more feel of stability when taking corners. The diesel remind me of a feel i felt when i drove my old E90.I conclude,The integral active steering makes the petrol worth it and makes a lot of different in the driving experience..So all my fellow petrol heads your integral active steering is a wonderful thing to have...considering you pay extra RM50k..

That's the main different between F10 5series on petrol and diesel. However, if your budget permit from 3 series ... perhaps can consider F10 diesel.... and if $ permit from F10 diesel, you may go for F10 petrol BUT is it worth to pay RM 50K just for Integral active steering .......... I mean just a drive pleasure ...

diesel f10 only abit more torque in sports mode? what petrol engine f10 are you comparing to?

I am comparing both the diesel and the 523 in sport mode because in normal mode certainly the diesel torque is much more evidence.I am not saying anything less about f10 diesel but more of my 523i performance in comparison to the diesel.

I don't have a pleasure of that option to choose when i got my f10 but i am talking about how much i am enjoying driving with the integral active steering. Now i appreciate it so much after i drove one without it.Whether worth the 50k or not is one's make when pay the booking..

No option to add on?

IMHO,Integral active steering completes the F10s,Get any diesels and you get the torque.BMW Malaysia should give diesel buyers the option to op for it.Whether ones want to pay extra for it it is another story but i am certainly glad mine have it..In UK and US you certainly can..

anyway to tell if ur car comes with integral active steering?

When you hold the steering you feel much relax and controlled and taking corners are much smoother and measured

The other bonus is: smaller turning circle during U turns, with the front and rear wheels turn in the opposite direction. Very useful for parking too. Truly love this feature!

Malaysia owners are lucky as the Active Integral Steering comes as standard in the 523i, in other countries as Ashman has pointed out, it is an option. As for having that option available on the 520d, I suspect the production volume and the limited capabilities at the LVP Kulim plant does not allow such luxury of having various options available.

Perhaps, we should do another visit to the factory soon :)

Does it screw up your parallel parking methods? :)

Parallel parking is a breeze bro and the tilted side mirror further help to make it easier..

hmm gotta check if the grey's come with this.

I am sure some greys have it because it is not something you can take it out when you sold the car.right? So if i am shopping for grey certainly i make sure it has one.Probably the dealer won't even know about it but if you are regular UDM driver, you will feel it when you test drive..

integral active steering makes parallel parking such a huge car look ridiculously easy... tried it out on a 528i at some super super packed carpark near Menara TM

that's too subjective of a way to tell.

easiest way to tell is to see if the rear wheels turn when you do a U turn.

its true and i think pro driver or who think they are pro would not like the feel but average driver like me whom not yet go for BMW driver"s training will like it because it make me think that i am a better driver than actually i am

I didn't notice this integral steering thing when I drove the F10 last month but the car indeed has good handling :) With this feature, does it mean the active integral steering needs to be calibrated by BMW once in a while or after alignments?

yes yes, u can't just go any of those tyre shop to do alignments... and of course it will be a potential part for repair due to wear and tear...
