ohh hope, you get your friends car sorted out soon ....must be another trick to get the car back there and another new bill ....hope your friend will not give up owning this car as even the 1st repair also had created lotsa saga ....

ahh the ROYAL SALUTE ..when ??

i dont think so bro iceman, since the boss said "not to bring the car in as he has too many cars to handle at present!!!"

sorry to here it bro,n to ur fren too..i knew what u felt.we recommend something n then it turn out to f'd up..malu looo..

lol....if its the same estoril blue e36 story i know, then yea, that shop had a nice free ride of changing parts and charging sky high prices, but in the end, couldn't solve the problem. solution was only a measly little hose that cost 1XX which the mechanic coudln't identify. instead charged 1XXXX to fix everything else which was not required. hehehe. macam macam ada la bang......

ssman...come la, we open a workshop. we only fix ladies from 18-30. and we ask QBB Ghee to be our shop sponsor la. put nice big signboard.....Singh and Sing engineworks!!!

Did I hear Royal salute?? hahaha
Btw, did the 6k job involve any wiring to be dismantled from the cluster or radio unit? or did it invove removing any of these units?

No Prez, worked involved was largely undercarriage, rear left power window arm replace, 2 screws to tighten under steering wheel area. No need whatsoever to remove cluster or player

This just shows why we should always have integrity in our dealings. We live in a small world and news travels fast. I have also heard the story about the Estoril Blue M3.
Sorry to hear, ssmann. You should expose this workshop if they don't rectify the issue.

yup agree with u man. btw, saw the blue one in the shop. :) v nice as usual

Bro ssmann,

Sorry to hear about your predicament....

My previous mechanic was screwing me over a number of years....I didn't really had any concrete evidence at that time until one fine day caught the fella, needless to say he was speechless....all the bullish*t started coming out etc....I gave him a Super duper royal f ing, so bad that I notice some customers started to leave....

Sigh, these people sometimes too much la....make money yes, fine, u open a business, u wanna make money, ok, it's natural, but not like tat la....we also need to work to get money to fix car le....

True bro, small BMW world we live in. How many E36 M3 coupe Estoril Blue, E38 Bayside Blue, E36 4 door M3 convert with black top on the road la. Tell also people know whose car and which workshop/s the car frequents.

"Expose Mistik" to come if the workshop does not own up for sure...and when I let go the name (for which I suspect those who know about the Estoril Blue story also know which workshop) some heads are gonna roll....thus am threading carefully with full firepower before next course of action

Thanks Mac! True la bro...very unscrupulous characters. Sometimes we not also sure whether the boss is aware of the issue or simply blindly trust the worker/supervisor. This I see as the biggest problem facing most mechanics nowadays. Sudah established and become big, they wanna become tawkeh and dont wanna get their hands dirty anymore....sad but true

Wah really big shot + tycoon wei this SSMANN...

Should consider changing your nick to SSMASAT... :vroam:

ssman You will scare many serious owners now by evading to name the shop or at least give some clue. Just hope there wont be other members going there

Bro ssman, I feel your pain that because of your recommendation, your friend suffers. Anyway, we are all waiting anxiously for your report if that workshop will be able to own up their mistake and admit (which i doubt so). If not, we are all waiting for the name of the workshop.

Update @ 23/9/2011

Issue resolved as follows: -

1. 2nd hand wiring from a donor UK spec single vanos 1997 E38 which connects instrument cluster to RDS player
2. VDO ECU got fried due to the shorting caused by the "switched" wiring. Can use old unit but airbag light and ASC light will not show, this module burnt on VDO ECU
3. RDS player works fine now
4. Flash reprogramme of VDO ECU for cluster programming...only god knows what this means!!

All old parts kept at mechanics place and will be collected as evidence.

Next step, will ask my friend to go back to the original workshop and ask Supervisor and Owner to own up. If they attempted to conceal a booboo, pls pay up for the remedy. If adamant still that nothing was done wrong, with my friends permission, I will publish the name of the workshop and then I am confident all hell MAY break loose

Hang ten, the end is in sight and hope to unravel the mystery within the next week or so

P.S - the more I consider the scenario and speak to those well versed with electrics and these technical stuff, it points more towards the direction of the workshop concealing a booboo, which has gone terribly wrong
