Dare not tell this to my family.. sure kena 2 weeks suspension.. :pWent for club F1 viewing in Souled Out last evening.. weather was bad, rain through out the evening until red flag was issued and race canceled for which I now know... a VALID SAFETY REASON!On the way home after the viewing, roads are still very wet. Kiara Science Center stretch was fine because DSC still on and I was fastest in the "sector"..:top:Reaching the traffic lights, I off my DSC/DTC and pass through the Phileo1 road, few traffic light stops thinking can spin some wheels in the wet.. :stupid:.. after which, I forgot to switch in on and speed down the Taman Tun way. Not many cars on the road. Over took one when passing Caltex and another approaching the Damansara Specialist junction, opposite Taman Tun Pizzahut. I was on the right lane, taking the corner, with DSC/DTC off in the wet, forgot the speed.. :eek:I wasn't on the "best line" to take the corner because just over took a car and was on the right lane taking a right curve. In my mind was waiting see the DSC kick in but all I noticed is a permanent indicator!! My rear oversteer in the middle of the negative camber corner, don't know if my front skidded as well but the rear definitely move a lot more, no sign of DSC interference. I did "tap" the brake once, then back to throttle pedal and counter steer. Didn't over counter, no fish tail after the counter. Lucky I was in a proper seating position with both on the steering and full alert.. if my rear move too far and clip the left bank, I would surely bring down few of the huge sign boards lined up there facing the Pizzahut. After regain control, I still notice the DSC indicator remain on, only then I realise it wasn't on at all..:stupid:All I can say is:1. Never off your DSC in the rain because you may forget to switch it back on when u need it most.2. Correct seating and steering holding position pays off in such situation.3. Counter steer technique and tapping the pedals technique needs a lot of practice to get it right and can't be taught.. my days of throwing my RWD mini MPV in the rain pays off..4. I was LUCKY!!Today I want to enjoy life, get to see and be with my family again, celebrate my limbs are still intact and the Taman Tun sign boards are still erected there! ... and of course my E90 is still in one piece without a scratch.. :p :stupid::wink:Amen.. :77:p/S: I wonder if my left rear suffered inner wear tyre together with the recently corrected overly negative left rear camber is responsible for this.. :smokin:

you were toxicated... so forgot lio....

then u must learn to drive back in basic's... ie. e30...

AB, good for you to test the car..

Got me worried when I thought you went to papaya farm without asking us.

Confession done...now say 2 Hail Mary's and 5 wee drams of whisky to wash away ur indiscretions! Lucky ur orite bro... glad to hear dat..

Bro AB, 2 parts along your journey are known to be 'dirty'.. the stretch near Science Centre (left curve) has claimed several lives and one of my friends had a momentary split second 'black-out' one evening taking that turn and crashed. My ex-boss' brother was killed there too.

The other was the curve near The Star office (left curve, 150 metres bofore toll booth) and if you remember some time back Albundy posted pics of a fiery accident of an e46 that claimed 2 lives. Both guys burnt alive.

Take it easy.

Hahahaha! All in good fun and no harm done! Alonso, who also overcooked it yesterday, would have been impressed :top:

I'll add no 5 for you:
Don't switch off DSC on a 'Monaco' track like Jln Damansara. In all my years of living in the area, I've seen a lot of dented armco barriers there, and witnessed a fatal thwack at the Pizza Hut junction. Switch off only on tracks with lots of run-off.

Hell yeah! I thought our 4-potter driven without DSC is less lethal than the 6-potter siblings but I was so wrong..

Our 225 wheels is very vulnerable in the wets especially when semi-worn and our so called balance chassis is actually bias to oversteer if driven too hard which if you have not experience what is an oversteer before in your life, u better leave the DTC button alone, especially in the wet! :smokin:

you shud turn off the dsc and try the oversteer again... in sepang when HPC comes round again.
guarantee you, shiokalingams!

I know.. but I can never make it to join the HPC due to other "commitments"... unless wife is oversea.. and I "cheat" on her

So I do my trainings in a much cheaper, "more thrill" RWD car setup to oversteer in the wet, on public road, everyday!. :stupid:

How to control an oversteer is almost the 1st important thing to learn, and it's good that you knew how astro. Very hard for any of us to practise controlling a high speed blowout though. From what I've read, you have to accelerate when the natural instinct is to brake!

Maybe time to change that LR tyre BTW...

eerrr the dsc supposed to be ON at all times unless u press the button right???
anyway glad that everything is OK.....

We've evolved so much that stuff like DSC is becoming like handphones. Can't leave home without it. Only a few years ago we could live happily without electronic vehicle stability systems.

Glad u are OK AB. I rarely press the DTC button. Only for stoplight runs with similarly classed cars.

I doubt so.. despite trying it out on every wet road I come across, mostly low speed u-turns, just to get my bum to read and familiarise with that oversteer feedback from the rear .. :p

I still think its luck... what if somebody is crossing the road? What if there's a slow car in the left lane? Then I wouldn't be posting here lio.. glad my number is not up yet.... phew......*relief*

Still felt very guilty and thankful, that's why this "confession" is made..

That was the plan, not to compete with others though, but to have some fun kicking up waters in the rain.. my mistake was forgot to switch it back on for a high speed maneuver in the wet.. :(

The 6-potters that's using an even wider rear tyres are even more vulnerable.. so be careful..
