How long that the Parking LED goes off after we lock our car ?

Dear sifu,As per title, my car is E39 M54B22 520i. My question is how long it takes for the Parking LED in the gear shifter LED goes off after we lock our car ?i have been notice that the LED still light up for a day after we lock the car. how about yours ?

Err, if not mistaken it was written in the manual the parking led is actually for "parking", especially to those who park under the tree or on a slanted surface. It was meant as a light signal so that people know your car is parked there. Correct me if I'm wrong.

i think you missunderstand my meaning. what i mean the "Parking" light is our gear shifter LED light. When we shift to "P" of course there is a light over there.

My 2003 525i's LED for the "PARK" position on the gearshift never goes off. Stays on all the time, unless of course I shift the gear lever away from PARK.

i have park my car more than 2 days. this morning i can see the "P" light is gone. is that normal?

It will light off but not sure how long it will stay as never stand beside the door to observe.

if we did not lock the car, the room light will stay quite long. if we lock the car, the room light will off at the same time.

Even no lock, the light will not stay for 16 min too. I think mine only stay more or less than 1 min.

my "P" sign and room light turn off at the same time..slightly less than 1mins after i lock the car..
hope this help.

but if u referring to the manual E462003i.pdf file that can be downloaded from internet :

vehicle are automatically switched off approx. 15 minutes after you turn the

Guys...cabin light staying more than few second is abnormal unless sum setting was done.so does the gear selector light.the longest the parking light should go off is 1hr.if its stil ter..means sum device in ur car is not sleeping n continously consuming ur battery.the consumption must b small or else u cant start the car next day or some non essetial features in the is automatically disabled.check ur aftermarket installation.or mayb ur cabin light is the one preventing ur car system from sleeping.very subjective situation n require lots of observation on the car power management.good luck bro
