Those using HID lights felt it made a difference to them, especially when
driving at night on highways.

“The light is extremely bright compared with the conventional yellow
lights, and that is very good. Whether or not it distracts other people
is a different issue, what is important is that it helps the driver,”
said managing director Cheah Eng Kong.
Self centred, no? Hope he's not a forummer! :beaten:

And now, my 2 cents... until a driver can ensure that his/her HID lights are going to be fitted properly (with consideration & due care to the public) he/she, in being a responsible motorist, should exercise restraint.
In a nutshell, proceed with due care. :D

what's a projecter, projector lense headlamp? anyone car to explain the difference? what else are there?
A projector headlamp is like having a magnifying lense in front of the bulb. This helps the light beam focus on the road and not spread everywhere.

(Much like a Nuwai Q3 having a reflector vs an Inova X1 with TIROS lens)

its all in the adjustment, after I had just fitted my HIDs , I could even see the monkeys on the trees :D , and had alot of stares and being HIGHBEAMED by others. After adjusting I dont have this problem anymore.
What normally happens is those guys who fit HIDs do not adjust the height of the lights after installing it bcos they assume at that time with normal lights its already ok so why need to adjust but what they dont know is the HIDs are now much brighter thus the throw is further and higher and it needs to be adjusted, so basically without the adjustment
they are practically driving with highbeam eventhough they are on low.
Lets face the fact that even with normal light when you are on highbeam its going to blind it doesnt need to be HIDs.
But the true fact is HIds are less glaring and hurting to the eyes.
Go stare at a yellow bulb and go stare at a fluorescent light which hurts more?

On the topic of 'fake' HID - normal bulbs tinted to look whithish blueish... I just realised that they may look bright but are actually less painful on the eyes... that's because they actually pump out LESS light than regular yellow halogen!!

Don't go for the 'simulated' HIDs... go for the real things ...

or save RM2k and stick with halogens!

I have seen a lot of SUVs, esp (the new harrier)and MPVs (estimas) with a very2 bright light due to not being adjusted properly. As usual, what i do is give them the finger(ooops sorry), flash them with my headlight to inform them that their light is bothering me. Otherwise, they will just think that they are one cool dude driving with a white light, factory fitted or not..

Also, i would suggest that the police or jpj stop them and ask them to have a check at puspakom (if they have the machine to check and a standard to follow), otherwise, this good innovation has become a nuisance..

I agree with one of the forumer, why the hell you need to look at other people's light, halogen or xenon, look at the path and lines of the road you are heading maa..

Tq naharnms, i am happy at least there is someone who agree with me. As 4me, i try to stay focus on my side of the road. This is what i am doing all these yrs. No problem with me :yahoo: Except when facing the yellow beam from the sportlights of the lorries. 2b hornest most of this lorries drivers actually immediatelly switch off the sportlight when approaching you. To me at at least they civic minded drivers. :yahoo:

Again tq naharnms.

rgds.

mid age guys like me --- able to handle the bright glare from the opposite incoming car with HID's. but at times i'm unable to focus especially those Kenari's , vios and honda's --- cuz it's DARM blardy bright..

Imagine those old folks out there who are still driving --- can they take this level of brightness ???

worse still if they are using glasses !!

Imagine if your 50yrs old parent who is driving and you're sitted next to them .... look into their eyes and what do they say ???? :getyourfactsright:

Yes i would agree upon the level of focus adjustment-- but how many of them do really care ?? :(

here a close up view of the headlamp with a projector lense in front.

The lense help to focus the light .

Honestly, has HID's killed anyone yet ? Firstly people dont usually get blinded on highway coz at the speed these cars travel, these lights past you really fast, so please dont tell me that a mili second of bright lights HID or not changed your life forever..

I have never seen a BMW that is factory fitted with H.I.D. to BLIND oncoming traffic.
..... but BMWs are not perfect. I was on the Penchala Link slowing down to enter the Toucg&Go lane when an E60 pulled up from behind with its left HID shining right into my rear mirror. Hurt my eyes, though... and was not too happy of that incident, too.

to yan@bmd/tap..

No problemo man..

Happy flashing back at those buggers with wrong spec alignment of HID, Ha ha

cheers

There you are. at the end of the day there are bits of of these %@*#^ + racun = fun. :D This make the forums lively. Cheers
"Macam macammmmmmm ada" :yahoo:

Since everybody is doubting and hesitating to purchase HID's for their rides, i'm pretty sure the price will drop soon.. :yahoo: Lelong-lelong..stock clearance :yahoo:

WHEN THE STORM IS OVER THING WILL BACK TO SQUARE ONE.

Still remember the issue of those heavily tinted imported and recon 4x4 vehicles not too long ago. The order was out, get it removed or change the glass and blaa, blaa, blaa,. Then gave a grace period to do so, with action will be taken and bla, blaaa, blaa and the rest is history. :getyourfactsright:

Oh blimey! Stop it bcoz i dont intend to overshoot my opinionated statement. ;)
