After the best car in the universe has been compared to the lowly V8 M3, why compare it with the 320i?

For me, once you have tasted forced induction, there will be no turning back to NA.

Is this your first turbo? I've had several, and will have several more I'm sure. But I still went back to NA. Nothing beats the refinement and pleasure of a 6-cyl and above NA engine.

Basically comparing same engine size between diesel and petrol. The choice is so obvious. Unless its a choice between an L4 diesel and L6 petrol or cars of bigger engine displacement (NA or with Turbos)

But why the constant need to compare between diesel and petrol in the first place? It seems to be the only boring conversation in 320d threads. BMW owners, of whatever model, should have grown out of d*ck comparisons long ago.

Well we all can agree to disagree.......the 320d boys love our turbos, the crazy diesel torque and the insanely low fuel-consumption figures! See you all tomorrow at the Goh Tong Jaya TT! What makes BMWCM is not this forum, its the people behind the keyboard pseudonyms. Let's meet up and kiss up!

It's great that the 320d boys love their rides. But other model owners love their rides too. And posts like the description of driving the 320i courtesy car are unnecessarily hurtful to 320i owners, and distasteful to me. Frankly I come here less and less now because of this constant, boring, kiasu chest-beating. There are better places to use my time!

Anyways, we never saw u once at the TTs Schwepps.....its been almost 5 years now since you've been a keyboard warrior...come on, show us the 325i you are so proud of. Come to the TT tomorrow up Gohtong Jaya. Ok? Not too much to ask?

I guess this will be my first turbo DIESEL. Coming from another German slut, four rings tourist trophy, a 1.8t abt remapped 260+hp/320nm, which was why my choices were between Passat cc or audi a4 1.8t. It'd been easily the audi a4 2.0t but like I said, mere mortals like us need to balance passion with practicality. And I said too, once tasted forced induction, there's hardly any turning back, for most people, or at least for me cos I came from a crappy 1.4 turbo Italian Bella.
I think some of us may hv been a liitle overzealous with our remarks but I m sure no malice was intended, just that you can only fault the true and genuine joy of driving this humble 2 liter marvel. I hv no quarrels with owners of other BMW Marques as I am sure their definition of passion n priorities are exclusively theirs too. Let's agree to disagree

According to the Mayans, you can have anything you want one year on from now, if you can survive December 21st, 2012. :)

Friend, procastinating and holding back is meaningless as there will always be a better one around the the corner. For me, I will see myself very happy with this face-lifted, up-rated 184-hp, 380Nm 320d for at least the next 3 years or until we have an F30 face-lifted 320d or 325d

Enjoy your hard earned money today and live in the moment of NOW, not tomorrow or yesterday.
Well said.

Final words. When it's occasional, it comes across as overzealous. When it's constant, it comes across as boring and kiasu.

Whats wrong with being boring and kiasu, see what the Singaporeans have done and achieved! LMAO!!

Schwepps I issue you a challenge...write a 100 words essay on why you like the 320d and i'll write the same about why I like the 325i....

Schwepps, perhaps the topic of diesel vs petrol could be boring to you. Back then for me,when I had choose between a diesel or a petrol, such topic was very important to me & there were with very little information in this forum except for a few diesel owner's testimonies. Like me, I believe, there are plenty of potential diesel owners who needs a little additional information and convincing to take the diesel path. I wish I had that when I wanted to make the upgrade a year ago and isn't what BMW club is all about-a place to share information and passion? Honestly, I wish the threads on diesel was as active now a year ago. If not, I would have bought my 320d earlier.

On a separate note, if my statement cause any heartache to any 320 petrol owner, my sincere apologies as it was not my intention to

Wow, buy the 320d earlier somemore...! That's our man! When you've got it, flaunt it!

Schwepps, do pardon the enthusiasm from us "d"-freaks. We cannot help ourselves but to rant and rave about the car because it simply gives us too much enjoyment, sheer driving pleasure....the things that make up what we value and surmise to be the essence of a BMW in our opinion.
I don't believe any malice is intended to the other series/variants...but making comparisons are inevitable. Thread starter sought help in looking for a 320d, and so we throw in our 2 sen...!

Back to topic - TheNemesis, quickly get your car! Don't bother with a grey import, get one that's built here, tailored for the tropics and with assurances from authorised dealers (or at least from a reputable forum contact)!
