Hi All,I have an E90 323i from Auto Bavaria. I'm just wondering, where, and how do I go about updating my GPS software in order to have the latest routes in the Database? Can I get it done at any BMW Service Centres? How can I check the version on my car in comparison to what is the latest version of software?Thank You.

If you have the car from AB, you should get your DVD box labeled Digital Road Map and I assume the DVD is inside the DVD drive in your car. The latest should be 2009 version. If you bought a older car, it will come with the version of that year (the car is sold). However, if you know someone that has the disk, it can be easily duplicated :pcguru:

Personally, I dont think it is worth buying the new DVD because it is just too expensive. For the price, you are better off buying a top of the line Garmin 765 or 800 series! There are so many limitations in our build in GPS.

Hi Peanut
When I bought my BMW from Auto Bavaria, I didn't receive any CD for the GPS Software. But as new roads are built and routes change, shouldn't the software be updated too?

bsoosay: when did u buy ur car? this yr? then the dvd will be for 2009 lo.
next yr, u pay again for upgrades / updating of maps , routes.

Bsoosay, is your one the LCI model? If LCI, there's no DVD. It's all in the hard disk.

MSport, yes mine is the 2009 model and I have a Hard Disk. Does this mean I would not have received the DVD? Naturally, right? So, you mean I have to pay for updates?

Likely so. Your future updates will be either via the USB port or some other port.

Then those with DVD can ciplak..... more worth it than having hard disk....

anybodyt with the latest DVD version 2008 or 2009 ? wanna ciplak...hehe..i'll pay the cost of ciplak & posting & your manhours..haha

if anyone still have the DVD version 2009, i wanna it too.. name the price hehehe

in this case better use garmin or other gps in the matket at least can upgrade for free from malfreemaps forum...

I ditched the car navigation already.. am happy with gps on my mobile. latest version all the time :D

Pass me your voice command system also. I'm sure you don't use it. Mine haven't got wan. :p

Seriously how come your voice command is not there? is it an add-on accessory? Ur car version is a later version than mine..hmmmm

Must be a birth defect of the car lor :p When I send it for service, I'll ask about it.

Do you have to anything other than press the button on the steering wheel? Maybe I'm just a fumblesticks...

Button on the steering wheel only repeats the last instruction given. The button on the top of the left hand menu bar turns the voice on and off (in Rachel's and my car at least, not sure if your new iDrive has a different way to do it...)

no takers ?? hmm

The 2009 DVD is not really worth it. Hardly any updates for Malaysia, e.g. MEX / DUKE highways still not included. The main addition is the maps for Thailand. As a result, the file size has increased (2008 version zipped to about 30 MB, while 2009 version is almost 200MB). Since it's November already, would recommend waiting till next year for the 2010 map. Not sure if they will release in DVD version or hard drive only...
