definitely a case of engine oil sludge issue coming up...2 months warranty is not enough for this case...

the oil sludge issue is like a plague...once it starts it could only get worse...

if u ignore...then at the end the solution is to change engine...

the mech call me and told the problem is oil roughfing something like that...this is because engine oil stuck and they need to change new oil pump+gasket+other minor part maybe...and they also need to clean it use some chemical ...

I think probably the car was not used for some time and everything started to build up inside the engine. 2008 is still a very new car and I'm surprised such problem exists for something that's only 3 years old. Since yours is a local model, did you check with AB on the service record/complaints made by the previous owner? How much did you get the car for (if you don't mind)?

1.so bro JIGO what u do when something like this happen?
2.i have check with AB and they said the owner dont have any complaint record..i buy it for 230k.
3.really need to change engine?

What's the mileage now? What was its last oil change mileage registered at the authorised service center? How many oil change record we can trace?

If sludge, then do a flush and keep your finger crossed lor..

care to share what does build up inside the engine when the car is not used? sludge?

I was referring to engine sludge, yes.

230K sounds reasonable for a 2008 car. If you get to the point whereby an engine change is required, it's better to sell off the car. Everything inside the BMW engine (especially for newer models) aren't cheap at all :(

1.mileage now 69k and last service 60k something check with AB...

dont know what to do now..

Dont worry so much for now and see what the mechanic says. After that try to monitor the engine oil level and see if the car is alright. Fingers crossed, hopefully it's a one off problem.

The car less than 3 years old and got BSRI ma.. but that's up to 60k km only.. be nice with them [the SC] and they will write u a good report to replace most of the parts under goodwill.. you will end up with a pretty new engine.. many success stories, good luck!

and how does the oil turn into sludge when it is not used? i am sure a lot of ppl is eager to know in order to understand the problem...

like most AB serviced car under their BSRI maintenance program which has an oil service interval of 25k km...based on the operating condition in our climate, this is the main cause for the engine sludge issue...

Why not you drive your car to those BMW specialist to get them check/diagnosed? If you want I can recommend you a few but mainly Ampang/Cheras area. Where do you stay?

alim, bring the car back to the last authorised dealer where it was serviced and get them to quote you all that's necessary to change. Then nego with them to get goodwill warranty, tell them you are the new owner, BSRI just ended and the car is not even 3 years.. bla..bla.. and bla..bla.. if they say sludge, ask them why got sludge when the car is still so new and is religiously serviced as recommendation bla..bla.. and bla..bla..

That's a good idea but does AB honor warranty even if there is a change of ownership for the car? How does it work? Another thing is we are not even sure if it's indeed oil sludge for now? :)

1. That's a CKD unit, both the authorised dealer and BMW Malaysia has made their equal share of their profit. How can they deny responsibility just because a change of owner? If this were to leak out to the general public, it's going to damage their publicity big time..

2. Sludge? I dunno, go ask the authorised service center to tell u la. They know sludge better than anyone else and how to fix also they know. The quotation is free la.

What have u got to lose?

I had a E60 525i M Sport friend who managed to claim a new engine from Sapura at 63k km due to sludge. That fella only change oil follow the OBC.. then get a new engine, he some more tell us who say BMW expensive to maintain.. They give u a new engine after warranty and BSRI expires.. :4:

His engine was shivering like low idling because the sludge is clogging up all the vanes and sensors, it happens right before the Sapura office, he just bring the car in, get a courtesy car E60 523i for well over 2 weeks. My friend some more complain he was short changed, the loaner 523i is really under power.. :4:

Agree. Despite the BSRI, I rather pay for oil change at 10K interval than risking this kind of problem.
