I drove my wife car down to the island state last month. I decided to change to the latest Goodyear Asymmetric from the 1 year old Michelin PP2. After a few minutes, I sense it was way quieter and very plush. The way the car grip in corners and feel at high speed is impressive. My drive home to Mont Kiara in KL was transformed. Plse note that the former PP2 was not done even more than 4000km. I changed it because my wife was nagging me about the noise problem and also how hard the ride became. For the first few minutes, my wife smiled and laughed. She is happy with my choice. I too am relief. I never thought tyres could make such a big difference to the car's characteric. I agree with Samsam, etc and Tire Rack about the new Asymmetric. Btw, I got it from Auto technology in Singapore. It is really worth it.

thats good news indeed. what size? which shop? location?

Enquired at a couple of local shops in USJ and Jalan Kapar Klang.
Cheapest price for 225/45/17s are RM650 and RM 750 for 245/40/17.
Read the reviews on TireRack.com and the Goodyear Asyms are rated slightly better than Mich PS2s performance wise.
Note : Threadwear rating of 240 as opposed to 220 on the PS2 (but way off from the 280 on old favs GSD3s)

2 months ago PS2 235/45/17 was 730 and 255/40/17 780.
I guess not much difference between them.
:top:

I just had them installed in Klang a fortnight ago

Goodyear Asymetrics
225/45/17 RM 650.
245/40/17 RM 750
.
Seem OK so far, haven't had time to get kms on them as its my weekend car and I was overseas till a couple of days ago.
General impressions is the turn in not as sharp as with GSD3's but about the same as Bridgestone Adrenaline RE 001's. - (I found the GSD3's much better tyres than the RE001's which replaced them on my car incidentally and longer wearing to boot) Will post a review on the Asyms when I get a few more kms on 'em.

dear Forge,

i am in the process of replacing tyres. i appreciate if you cud write more about how your assymetric F1 goodyears are doing? any good or regrets?
It is bumpier? Good for family outing drives? Grip? Comfortable? Noisy?

Actually, they are more comfortable than GSD3 or RE001's.
Initially (first 500 km) they felt a little unresponsive to turn in but now after 1000km they feel fine.
Quite good in the rain (comparable to GSD3, better than 001)
If comfort is your concern, they are rated more comfortable than PS2's on Tirerack and is now the no 1 tyre in that series (with RE050, PS2, Conti3's). Mind you this is for the US and how that translates here is anyones guess.
I'm quite happy with them and no regrets so far.
Klang appears to be the cheapest place to get them so far, I got them at Ban Hin on Jln Kapar (though they will take a day or so to order them in for you)
