Hi all,I'm in the market for an E60, below are the 2 unit tht I kinda like. Can you guys kindly give me an opinion comparing this two?.http://www.mudah.my/BMW+520i+M+SPORT+E60+LOCAL+FULL+SPEC+M+VERSION-9719468.htmhttp://www.mudah.my/BMW+520i+M+SPORT+E60+CKD+ORI+M+VERSION+FULL+SPEC-9531898.htmI thought the 525i are kinda great too but seems like it's all about 20k-30k more, and without all the bells and whitstles of the 2 above. I also read from this forum that the 520i uses the M54 engine which is actually the same as the old E39. Would that be a potential problem since it's such an old technology?Really appreciate any expert opinion/advise. Thanks

I personally advise you to get at least 525i bro as all accs can be add later but engine are not easy as that. E60 body are heavy so 520i must be underpowered bro.

My advice is try not to get a car which is too old because you need to spend a bit more replacing wear/tear parts :)

yup, agree with hakim on this..due to the weight of the e60, would really recommend to get at least a 525i..but if you still have to choose, i'd go for the second one (silver colour)..

by the way, your id is Samantha, any chance you're a female soon-to-be bmw owner? nice to see more women in the forum :)

Test driven 520 & 525, kinda found the 525 is overkill for my city driving. Of course it's nice to hav extra power, but not at RM30k.

I thought 5 yr car is pretty reasonable, no?

Currently driving 318i, didnt really felt the 520i was underpower by comparison. Then again I use it primarily for city driving.

Do you wanna elaborate why you would choose the silver one over the black one? (anyway the silver one is sold :()

Hi there,

Just to share my experience, My self are driving the 520i E60 yr 2005 now and i find it quite good interms of power, pick up and fuel consumption. I drove from JB (perling) full tank to KL (cheras) to Sri petaling to The Curve back to sri petaling to jalan ipoh back to cheras then back to JB tebrau only i refill the petrol again... anyway, i will advise to check with your dealer to print out the engine report and see its history before purchase...520i its heavy but it is stable when in high speed.

Good luck !!

Thanks for the info. Fuel consumption is not a concern for me as it's covered by e company. Dunno about the stability at high speed, dealers dun normally allow us to test drive beyond the nearby junction...

Hi Samantha,

I see you post at 3 am in the morning? The e60 520i is heavier then others aporximately 2 tons, how fast are you targeting at ? 200 km/h ? i am not joking and when i drive my bike it easily reach up to 170km ~300km/hr and i expect BMW will do better or the same. the conclusion is, YES, it is stable in high speed.

As for your dealer who do not allow you to test drive, you will not able to feel the performance in low speed and driving around town. The only diffrent is, wow....BMW...5 series..good....if compare to others car. Anyway, even ferarri and lamborgini have their own problem and who can ensure if you seek for others car dealer will not have the same problem, just is the risk of worthy of taking it or not then.

But i should warn you in advance, if the idrive down, the whole car down....the cost of it, you should be mentally prepare as it is equalavent of heart replacement....if you want to know more...PM me...cheers!!

there's no ///M logo on the steering wheel...plus in the car description they only mention FULL M SPORT BUMPER & "BODY KITS"..means only the original bumpers are replaced with M-Sport bodykits + rims..nothing mentioned M-Sport suspensions nor any other visible m-sport details like ///M door side steps etc.

I think an easier way of telling is check the following:

1. M-Sport would have a different seat. If you notice, the front seat has some sort of extension and can be moved out (no idea what's a proper name for it).
2. M-Sport has a black color trim on the side windows as opposed to chrome trims (standard version).
3. M-Sport has M-Tech body kit, rims and a different absorber.
4. M-Sport has a different steering wheel which is thicker in diameter, makes you have a better feel overall.

I also believe that using the VIN, you can check if it's an M-Sport? (someone please clarify).

Hi guys!!,

By the way, what so special about ///M and many ppl like it ?....

personally, i bought my M-Sport (tho it's just a 3 series) because of the sport suspension and the better looking bodykits (tho i changed both after a while..lol)..some would go for the details such as the bucket seats, three spoke steering wheel, etc.

so smantha, have you got your E60? Which one 520i or 523i?

I am thinking of getting one too. Found one with magnesium engine year 2005. Wonder what is good/bad abt magnesium engine?

Anybody can help explain?

Thanks
