You are lucky. Just change the gear selector switch. Nothing wrong with
the GB. Cost about RM180 to change.

forget about the knock down switch. You seldom floor down the pedal.

My car got problem with the gear position switch which only the part cost RM850 above.

What a relief if this is the actual problem. Anyway I just called up a few spare part shops and ask them to quote me Gear Selector switch- part
number 25161219152 and the best price I got was RM185 and it is original BMW. Uncle J, your pricing was very very close. Tweiboon is this the part
that you changed recently that cost you RM850?

tweibon car is E39. the gear selector switch is different from E36. E36 dont have +/- selection.

I change the switch for my e36 about 5 years ago when my GB cant seem to engage properly.

Thought it was the GB problem but found out later it was the selector switch.

anyone looking for an e36 gear box selector switch ..i think i may have one ...pretty new as i got it replaced just before i switch to manual ...

offer me a good price that i can't resist ..rm 120 is ok ?

Wow...........got +/- the price will be having such a big different.
I havent change this gear position switch yet. My friend (Ah Kok which attended last TT)help me to ask for the new part from spare part shop and replied me RM850. Where else i called to Bavarian Auto they offered me RM950.

just change my gearbox oil, up to 6L of it (below RM300), 2pcs of gasket (RM25 each) and 2pcs of those solenoids switch (RM200 each). labour RM180.

rough price tag as you need to do your homework on this
box getrag that comes complete with all the linkages, Fly etc etc RM 4.5K or more
workmanship to install : RM 1K or less

Hi All sifus,
Just wanna update the above problem that I am still having after changing the gear selector switch and yesterday the gearbox oil.
Yesterday when the mechanic open the small gb oil sum, he found one plastic spacer ring broken and inside the sum (No5 in attach diagram).
He told me that this is causing the intermittant GB light on and to replace this ring he quoted me RM1800 for labour alone and parts will come
to about plus minus RM1000. However he told me that I can still drive but will have this problem on and off. Any advice from the sifus here will
be much appreciated.

Calling all sifus and old timers, can anyone tell me what is the purpose of this broken spacer found inside my
small gb oil sump? Anyone experience this kind of problem before? Need your advice and help. But after changing
the gb oil so far only once the gb light comes on (touch wood) and after turning off and on back the light goes off.
