does anyone one know a good place to fix my gearbox for e36 328i. the problem im having now with my gearbox is when i put in reverse gear it wont move when i accelerate. unless you accelerate more like your rpm reaches 4 the car ony move a little bit faster. it only move slowly like usual when you go to the reverse gear. or is it save to get a new re-con one?

Cost might be the same. But points to consider. If yours is a gm, might be better to go for the 5 speed zf or jatco. Or go manual

Do you have any idea how much it would cost for workshop to covert it to manual? The whole manual conversion kit I got quote from M.Directspares for around 3k for the Getrag and around 4k for the ZF M3 trans, still working on my budget to do the conversion.

If FULL conversion kit for Getrag-3k and ZF-4k, I won't think twice... It would be good if you can list down what is included in the FULL kit

thats a very good price bro , yeah as Vman pointed out have the checklist on the items if its almost there dont wait , your 328 cant wait to unleash its potential .

Sini racun manyakkk kuat ohhh :107:

On a side note, if you're running a 4 speed GM, a 5 speed ZF or Jatco would require changing the EWS as well if i'm not mistaken. May as well consider adding a third pedal.. .. .. But the auto box has a taller ratio, easier and more relaxed for highway cruising. I use this website to do rpm calculations --> http://www.bokchoys.com/differential/GearRatios.htm The rpm calculator is on the left side.

No changing the gearbox will not affect the EWS. And for that matter 328 are running EWS II which is not possible to by pass compared to the EWS I of the 325 and below.
There is a method but that involves soldering work.

If you mean EGS then it is partially wrong as well. between the 4speed gm and 5 speed ZF they will share the same EGS.

Only the Jatco will use a separate EGS from the EURO gearboxs.

Reason is the Jatco is Japanese. it doesn't understand german so have to use a Japanese speaking CPU to talk to it.

EGS for GM and ZF GB

GM is A4S 310R
ZF is A5S 310Z
