Dear Sifus & Folks,Need a quick advice..i just changed the gearbox switch for my car 3 days ago after experiencing gearbox malfunction error quite frequently..Changing the gearbox switch did fix the problem..gear shifting was smoother den before..till disaster strike yesterday..Puchong area was flooded due to heavy rain yesterday, i had to pass thru a few flooded roads to reach my house. While driving, the gearbox malfunction error appeared again..da funny part is, diz time both the malfunction error and the gear indicator appeared in the display at the same time..checked with my mech, he said probably the switch would hv got wet..he advised to disconnect the battery and leave it for the whole night..diz morning, still same..went to the mech shops, he's saying need to overhaul the gearbox.. any idea whats happening?

Don't be con by the mechanics who said that you need to overhaul your GB. Water has slipped into connector that connect your gearbox to the ECU causing the "Trans Fail" error. Go to a trusted workshop, ask the mechanic to disconnect the connector, spray some WD 40 into the connector and reconnect it again. Use scanner to erase the error code. This should resolve the problem.

yes, normal for the flooded water to get in the socket, socket seal old, so water easily get in. If he say water get into gearbox, then why atf never come out, if got seal koyak ?

Herbert is correct... small issue, big to customer...

What Pussy said is correct i.e. connector/socket seal is old. Spare parts shops don't sell this seal nor do they sell the socket/connector. Solution is to use WD40 (is a kind of water repellant) and after spraying the socket/connector with WD40, wrap the socket/connector with insulation tape.

Sifu, im glad to hear if its normal..almost kena heart attack wo when the mech told me GB kong d..haihhh..fingers crossed..

Too many errors does not mean GB kong. Like I said, use the scanner and erase all error codes. Get copy of the error codes and post it in the forum and I am sure all the sifus here will be able to advise you accordingly.
