Gearbox Specialist Needed....Help!!!

Dear friends...My e46 2001/01 2.0 is having problems with its gearbox...first it feels jerking whenever it downshift from 3rd to 2nd gear...then the P, D diaplay dissapear and now the check gearbox telltale is on. The car jerks whenever it downshift from 3rd to 2nd and to 1st. Bought it to a few local mechanics and they dare not say what the problem is, must take out everything ang check. I dun wanna go through much hassel, so could anybody please direct me to a gearbox specialist to diagnose and rectify the problem without going through some trial and error process. By the way, im in manjung, perak...and willing to drive or tow the car to kl...or wherever the specialist might be. Hehe...anything for my beloved beemer...Your help is very much appreciated...tq

haa.. u have same problem like me.. when upshift no problem but when downshift quite jerking.. some mechanic recommended me to do GB oil change n flushing.. but if did not work,maybe have to overhaul.. but wait till it really kong first.

Okow, pm noted. Will try to change gearbox oil 1st...lets see what happens. Any other similar cases that have been rectified? Your comment is very much appreciated.

Hi! I face started to face this problems months back but that is only when I push the car to the limit and than suddenly slow down. After that the same problem happen but after you start shut the engine and restart it would have done until I push it to the limit again. It is an intermittent thing.

I change the gear oil and so far it looks good..

Same problem, changed and flushed the gear oil and it has been working fine for 6 months and counting...

Spoke to Bavarian Auto in Subang, to get the parts for a GB overhaul is around RM3,500(including GB pistons) and for RM7,500.00 they can provide an already overhauled GB.

Am probably gonna do an overhaul when it reaches 200k. Running on 188k now.

I can feel the jump when shifting from 2nd to 3rd during low speed. Another problem it jerks when I press hard while reversing, even with a slight cluck sound.

Looks like u guys suggesting oil change. Care to share how much it cost for my E34?

Bro... I think you should check your valvetronics sensor...it cost RM850 + RM150 Labour Charge
