Dear Sifus/Folks, At a glance of the forum, seems like diz is a very common problem for E46 engine to consume engine oil.Need your advice and suggestions.. Here is my chronology...Da 1st week of ownership, went for ignition coil replacement, mech checked the engine oil was abit low, so he topped up..3 days back, i've been experiencing my car indicating the engine oil sign..checked the dip stick, engine oil was indeed low..apparently, it was almost time for me to go for the 1st service since i own da car 48days ago..decided to visit da mech with a few issues in the list; Problems1)the recent engine oil indication 2)intermitten gearbox malfunction indication3)slight steering free play (wobbly handling but very seldom)Problem Determination / Recommendation1)No leakage found around the engineand on the floor / recommended to do top haul or if possible over haul2)Run a full diagnose with the Scanner..results show ony 1 error..."GEARBOX SWITCH" ..(based on experience, only "P" gear will lite up the indication) physical check shows gear box work have been done before..gearbox oil checked and confirmed still new..3)lower arm and steering rack all good but the culprit was tie rod / recommended to if possible to change on both sidesAction Plan1)Castrol Semi Synth Engine oil, OEM air filter and OEM oil filter changed for now (basic service)2)Cleared the error for now, As a temporary solution, turn off n on a few times before start.....or turn on da key, push da gear to "N", den start.. since its almost late evening, mech decided to hv a thorough check next week.3)Naked eye view shows the tie rod is loose..problem is not severe, will be going back to the mech for replacement next weekend (parts no stock)Question1)Still under monitoring for now. However, if problem persist........Top Haul is quoted rm2-k plus / Over Haul is rm6k plus. Which 1 is better? Or is there an y other resolution? If quoted price is expensive, any other recommended mech to visit?2)Not really sure which sensor needs to be replaced..Any advice??3)A pair of OEM tie rods with labour is quoted rm300 plus..Is this reasonable?Thanking all the Sifus/Folks in advance for the time, advice and suggestions..Cheers..
