Guys,I just change my gar box oil, do we allowed to do that? :dunno: saw a sticker written below "life time warranty"..but when i saw the oil drain out it is so damn BLACK..i afraid it might have an effect on my gear box. Need advice..Thanks

E46, I suppose for Japs, lifetime means 5 years..

It should be changed, but I suppose flushing is not encouraged. :D

Thanks for the info..

Another infamous question.. The Axle Oil.

Should v use a 80W90 or a 85W140? I m thinking of changing to Mobil Synthetic 75W90.. :dunno:

85W140 is a bit too thick for even the rear diff.. not sure if there's anything in between 90 and 140...

I suppose I will go for Mobil Synthetic 75W90...

Can't find ori BMW diff oil... but I know BMW recommends Castrol.

I just changed my axle to Mobil 75W90. Fantastic....so far....
Nx will be gearbox.. BMW Original ATF? ANy other good suggestions?

I just changed my diff oil to Redline synthetic
and
Gearbox ATF to Royal Purple Max ATF

Super smooth gear changes.

The crap that came out was Kopi O kau (almost)

Lifetime my ass!

FYI: Indicated mileage was 50,154km

I did it at the INFAMOUS AUTOCHILD!
I took the challenge and risked my hard earned money and sacrficed my precioius cars.

Frankly I don't see what all the fuss was about. They are very professional. Been there twice and will be going back there again when the need arises.

But mind you, premium stuff costs a LOT...

ATF Flush service RM99.00
ADNOC ATF ( for the early part of the flush process to clear the gunk ) RM 153.00
Royal Purple MAX ATF ( for the latter stages of flush and final fill) RM 576.00
Lubeguard ATF additive RM 80.00

Diff oil change ( labour ) RM 20.00
Redline 75W140NS Gear Oil RM 125.00

Peace of mind : Priceless

I also did an engine flush and oil change, Power steering flush and change + additive.
When i go for the next oil change, I will be doing the following:

Decarb
Brake fluid change
Spark Plugs

On my E30, the following was performed

Engine flush and oil change
Decarb
Power steering flush and change + additive

If you have to change gearbox? How much le...?

But it wasn't just a change of ATF. The flush process is also quite important IMHO.
If it was just a straight drain and fill operation, it would be a lot cheaper.

Hopefully this is preventive maintenance

sum ppl said flush 9 9 the gearbox

later gearbox KABOOM

not advise to flush ...

duno i read from those forum also

they didn't change the filter? i thot it's recommended?

ok i also will try the infamous AUTOCHILD like what scin say, coz so many negative comment. go change engine oil to royal purple next round. I am using Q8 F1 now, after trying royal purple on my next change i will post and let u guys know the difference (only if i can feel any) muhahahahahaha :D

Actually, if memory serves me well, there were only 2 or 3 people with bad comments.
One had dubious and unsubstantiated claims, one heard of bad things from a "friend".
There were also several people who had good things to say. But everyone is entitled to their opinion.

I think there is a comprehensive review on zerotohundred

How do they do the flushing......do they pour in, start...engage gear...stop and drain.....or pour in hot oil(from oven)....thinner oil...start,engage gear...stop and drain.....infact it quite interesting to know how the basic flushing procedure is done. Premature failing after axle oil change is primarily due to the fact incorrect flushing procedure and incorrect viscosity....not to forget the change your axle oil and kaboom factor.....
