It's a bit off my target price of RM388k but with the options listed by Paul Tan more than make up for it.

Will test drive it this weekend before confirming my booking.

Bro Anxious

You have been considering and had many many thoughts about the 5er (since F10 days). Its time to take the plunge and make it happen.

Test drove the 530i today. I am certainly happy that I waited for this car.

It's comfortable and quiet. Didn't really get a chance to push it hard as it was city driving.

So I've decided to go ahead with it.

I had previously booked the F10 in November and paid a deposit. When I decided to wait for the G30, I told the salesman to keep the deposit for the G30.

As such, I may be able to get the 1st batch which should be available later this month.

Having been driving 3 series for the past 15 years ie E30,E36 &E90, the G30 is a big car and will take some getting used to.

However being in my mid 40s, I guess its time to move on to the 5er.

It's really exciting as this is my first brand new bimmer , having owned second hand cars all this while.

I'll fill you guys in with more details later.

This pricing of RM398800 and the specs by BMW Msia for CBU is spot on esp since the outgoing CKD 582i was being retailed at RM417k in 2015.

As for specs, it would have been great if BMW Msia also gave us Heads Up Display, Surround View With 3DView and Soft Close Doors.

I am not sure whether it has Park Distance Control (PDC) with front and rear visual acoustic feedback which was in the 528i ans is in the 730i.

The specs sheet only mentioned Park Assistant, automatic parking for parallel & perpendicular manoeuvres.

I also don't see wireless charging pad in center, wifi hotspot and apple carplay.

I would also have loved comfort seats as I am a big guy at 94kgs and almost 6 foot but the sport seats side boolsters seem to be adjustable so it isn't too bad.

I really can't imagine what else will come with the CKD version though some extra specs like HUD should be expected.

For me, none of the options omitted in the CBU is a deal breaker.

Pricing wise, I understand the CKD is expected to be priced about the same with CBU, only with extra options.

However if Mercedes prices the CKD E Class much lower, then you may see the 530i at RM10-20k cheaper.

Since I am not prepared to wait 6-9 months for the CKD and would definitely prefer the CBU, I guess it's time to take the plunge.

Another thing to look out for is the 7 series hybrid which may be introduced in April or May at below RM500k. That would certainly give the S Class a run for the money but I am not keen on such a big car.

Yes, its reported as "M Sport brakes with blue-painted callipers"..... not Mperformance

It's a good idea to paint them blue or some color so it looks nicer. Pretty sure it's the same single pot that's being used. The good news is, BMW now makes M performance BBK upgrade kits for G30. It wasn't available for F10 previously.

IMO the soft close door feature is not a feature worth having. when something goes wrong (and it will eventually), it will cost you a bomb to fix. and is it really that difficult to slam the door close?!

heads up display is a good feature to have if you want to impress your friends. I personally find it distracting.

the surround view is a good feature to have

have you checked out the V90? there is a blue one at glenmarie volvo. Looks really good! I would probably take the v90 over the G30.

I agree. Soft door close is useless especially when you're on a sedan car. Not like the door is very heavy and can't remember when is the last time car doors are not shut properly. Even if it does, just redo it. Doesn't cost much of effort. I'd prefer better audio than soft door close personally :d

i take back what i said about the S90 being better than the G30 528i! Just saw one today at Ingress, it looks much better in the flesh. Especially in alpine white .The only complaint i have is why is the window trim in satin chrome instead of gloss black!? Bring back the shadowline trim for m sport!

Yeah, the black trim looks better in my opinion.

The Volvo is way too overpriced. They will have a hard time selling it. Its looks good but I will take the beemer anytime
