The G30 is due to be launched in the UK and US in Feb 2017.

Pricing is out. You can even build your own car now and place your order.

In Malaysia, we are kept in the dark.

I even wrote to BMW Malaysia, but they weren't able to share any information at all.

They only informed me that the F10 is still being sold here.

In this time and age I find that really ridicolious.

Anyway, 2different salesmen both informed that the G30 will be launched here in Mar/Apr 2017 and the 530i may be priced between RM360k to RM390k.

Have you guys got any info on the G30?

When the CBU F10 was introduced here in 2010, BMW MSIA launched the 523i & 535i. It sold them for RM398k and RM598k respectively.

See http://paultan.org/2010/05/07/bmw-unveils-all-new-f10-5-series-2-variants-from-rm398k/

When the 7series was launched here in 2016, the 730Li sold for RM598k and the 740Li for RM788k.

See http://paultan.org/2010/05/07/bmw-unveils-all-new-f10-5-series-2-variants-from-rm398k/

I expect BMW MSIA to bring in both the 530i and 540i.

They will have to price the 530i under RM400k as it replaces the 520i as the entry level model.

The higher they price it, the less sales they will get.

Pricing the 540i at RM200k more than the 530i would be absurd as the price difference bw the 2 models overseas isnt that much.

But we get screwed all the way in MSIA. Both by the government by way of taxes and extremely high margins.

I know BMWs only sell 10000 cars in MSIA but really their pricing is awful.

That's the price we pay for our passion and why I've been buying second hand all this while.

US pricing 530i starts USD52195, 540i starts USD57445

See http://www.autoblog.com/2016/12/21/2017-bmw-5series-pricing/

Difference in pricing USD5250 x 4.5 = RM23625

German pricing 530i starts EURO49800, 540i is EURO57700

See http://www.bmwblog.com/2016/10/27/2017-bmw-5-series-pricing-start-e45200-germany/

Difference EURO7900 x 4.75 RM37525

So actually between the 530i vs 540i including tax and additional options, the price variant shouldn't be more than RM100k

In fact it should actually be closer to RM70k to RM80k.

Hence a fair pricing would be RM380k for the 530i & RM450k for the 540i, provided the option list is decent.

BMW and their dealers would still be able to make good profit and have healthy sales on the new 5 series.

It's left to be seen how the pricing will be here.

Want a closer look at it.. it's being unveiled at the Bangkok Motor Show in early April 2017.

Thks DragonBoy. However, the G30 should arrive here by late March. So no need to go to Bangkok Motor Show.

There would be 3 roadshows for G30 in March in KL, Cyberjaya and at Skypark; and I believed all BWM owners have been invited

I didn't get any invitation from BMW or ingress

If you have a good well maintained F10 2010 528i, you may be able to get RM150k for the car. That's not bad after 7 years. Then u can move on to the G30, using the RM150k as a deposit.

The G30 launch drawing nearer. Hopefully list price for 530i is RM380k or thereabouts. Fingers crossed.

Then I can dispose it in 6-7 years for RM150k

Just attended the G30 preview at cyberjaya. No pictures allowed. Not much information available. It was less thanhalf an hour presentation. Very basic stuff. No details of specs available. Poor lighting so couldn't really appreciate the car itself. Only 2 cars on show. Blue and Black. Was looking forward to seeing the Sophisto Grey but not available. Have to wait for the launch in Penang. A bit disappointed to be honest. Well it's only 2 weeks to go.

Only good thing is got to sit in the car and feel the interior. Seats adjustable for lumbar support. Interior looks nice.

Now depends on pricing and driving dynamics

The news I'm hearing is that the price is now expected to be under RM400k.

My target price is RM388k.

Adding insurance and all, it will come up to RM400k.

Launch tomorrow!

Also interested in the features that will be included for that price. Hoping for a full-spec car might be just wishful thinking, but for the 540i that wld b definite. Would a detuned version be in the line to be introduced later in the year?

Pavilion has roadshow this Friday if not mistaken..
Received event invite for this weekend @ Quill
was told only 530i available..

edit...
unveiling @ Pavi this Friday @ 8pm..

Its official..... RM 398,800

The all-new G30 BMW 5 Series is finally here – the seventh generation of Munich’s benchmark executive sedan has been launched today at Subang Airport, and will be available in showrooms from this weekend.
Entering the market in fully-imported (CBU) form for now, the new 5 Series is available in just one variant – the 530i M Sport, priced at a very competitive RM398,800 on-the-road without insurance. Included is a five-year, unlimited-mileage warranty, a five-year free service package and a two-year tyre warranty.
Power comes from a B48 2.0 litre turbo four-cylinder engine that produces 252 hp from 5,200 to 6,500 rpm and 350 Nm of torque between 1,450 and 4,800 rpm, sent to the rear wheels via an eight-speed Steptronic Sport automatic transmission. Key figures include a zero to 100 km/h sprint time of 6.2 seconds, fuel consumption of 5.5 litres per 100 km combined and carbon dioxide emissions of 126 grams per kilometre.
