Dear CM, v can all see that from the no of postings, this forum is slowly dying, no one is bothered to post anything nowadays. Surely there must be a plan in place to make it interesting like before. Why r forumers like pussy n mizhan not posting any longer? Something has to be done quick or it will end up like d rx8 forum, which died a long time ago. Is d CM going to relax d rules on CG sales in d classifieds, what plans r there 4 a clubhouse? I know being in d commitee is not an easy job, but something has to be done quick guys!

Greetings bro rx8.

Thanks for the concern and we feel what you feel. The past few months has been hectic for some and it was really an absorbing months not only for the CM but also to most of our members here. I was in KT this whole day and had a small discussion with one of our CM and the forum status was also in mention as well. It was a concern and we have agreed to address this mundane state of our forum in our next Committee Meeting ... :frown:

The CM will be meeting tomorrow morning and this issue will be taken as the main agenda for our meet tomorrow. Hopfully we wil updates all members of what transpire.

Thanks again bro.

Prez.

Many are on Whatsapp group d.. forum will be pretty soon a thing of the past.. Facebook group still has traffic.. I see some owner got problem with car and they get immediate response due to the prompt notification Facebook server provides.

Even events are easily organised coz can send invites and monitor RSVP.

Forum will soon becomes archive purpose only.

Forum will still be the reference place for many and we must continue to encourage cg, om, cm or vendors to contribute. Facebook group are active and good for events management plus members introduction but its hard to record DIY or repairs or technical details

Dear Bro rx8,

Thank you for your concern and highlighting this issue. We, the CM are also aware of this issue and the fact that the forum has quieten down abit as compared to last. However, we notice that there are still many new posts being posted in the forum on a daily basis, although some may not be as a "hot topic" as before. We look on the positive side to think that forummers have become more responsible and mature in the postings.

However, like astroboy rightly pointed out, alot of the guys and gals here have their respective whatsapp group(s) hence the reason why the forum is being visited less by these folks.

Unfortunately we cannot control when a person wishes to post.

As a start to boost (hopefully) up traffic, we the CM have decided to re-open up the Classified Section to Club Guest to post thier respective items. The same rules apply and we will do our level best to monitor the sellers.

Thanks once again bro rx8.

Cheers

mac

There are only so much everyone can talk about cars without repeating the same old queries over and over again.. It's the same in other forums, the active threads are usually the tok kok sing song section. Much like a chatroom.

In my opinion, forums are subject to voluntary sharing. Immaterial to any forums, it is solely based on forum members be able share their findings are. There are some members which I would say 'Gold' in this very forum. The level of information they share unselfishly are for the benefit of the readers not for themselves. Hence, claiming forums are things of a past would be a strong statement. Newly joined members can access to the threads and learn a lot from reading these threads. I would second TS on this forum is dying due to some of these Gold members aren't posting any. This mindset should change and everyone should work together to post their findings to keep the forums alive. At the end of the day, forums never belong to anyone single person or committee. It belongs to everyone !!!

Again, this is completely my personal opinion.

we just need somebody to create a spark on sensitive issues, then only the forum will be on fire. hehe.

If you want a forum as small as this to be active, you need a few things as the recipe:

- a sense of belonging, then forumers will be more inclined to hang out here more;
- content, when Gamenoob and I ran our hobby forum (radio controlled planes), it was much smaller than this but we had tons more traffic because we had reviews, build threads etc. It kept the level of interest high
- events, there is always a lot of talk after each event. What happened to the calender of events that was prepared? Bimmerfest?
- engagement by CMs with forumers, there needs to be more.

The CRZ forum is FB based and its very active. All sorts of stuff happening. Outings, meet ups, events, own track days etc.

So like what an OM said to me, if this forum is club based, it will eventually die. So it goes back to the age old issue. CG v OM etc. there are many OMs n CGs in here who market roduct/services n plan for their big companies n organise events for a living. Have the CMs tapped into their strength?

I'm glad I'm not the only one who noticed this lately. The forum still has its new postings, but as a few mentioned, where were the threads that made this forum worth visiting everyday? its easy to say there are whatapps and fb groups etc, but if there is interest in the forum, i dont see why ppl wont log in and post here instead. I mean it happens when there is a 'hot topic', so what's the excuse? too big a club? is it much bigger from say 4 years ago? Even if it has grown, no one has asked why has the interest waned?

and how come the classifieds section is open again? Wasn't this discussed at the recent AGM, where because the issue on the classifieds were not raised 30 days in advance and could not be discussed on the agenda, but instead a vote of hands was taken so that the CMs can start deliberation on it and call an AGM/EGM to discuss/inform on it? I mean the classifieds section is dead, so I dont really care if its opened, but I"m just curious on why say something in AGM and do something else later? Unless AGM is to just meet up and eat some nice hot karipap :D I though we went past the knee jerk agendas/plans, but looks like its still there. I bring this up coz I dont want irregularities in the AGM minutes, which might back fire later. Unless I'm wrong and was not paying attention but busy eating karipap, so forgive me :D

oh ya...and before Prez D'zul says it, let me say that I know that the CMs have a full time job and this is on voluntary basis, so good job on all the work done, and no we dont want you all to resign and someone else to take over the role. hehehe...jokin ar Prez, jgn marah :D

I'm actually building a site thats targeted for bmw resource from workshop address and locations to posting of news and articles sourced from the web.

Had initially worked on it as an ecommerce platform for Hydra-Auto but am slowly changing the model to be one that enables more content to be pushed into the site. At the moment the ecommerce section has not been modified to accept postings by other users but that can be changed easily.

Am willing to collaborate with BMWCM on this and change the name of the site to reflect BMWCM as honestly i'm doing this more for fun and research than anything else.

My suggestion would be to maintain the forum within a section of the site rather than letting it die off because honestly the forum has a wealth of information. We can even do DIY article contributed by members and proper member car feature section which can be easily searched. There is a whole lot than can be done it's just a matter of what do you guys want to do?

No worries bro ramsing, no offence taken whatsoever n no rwason to marah2 one.

As for the Classified is concern, to close or to open it, I believe we do not need have the AGM to vote on it. The forum is the forum, with its own sets of rules and regulations. So is the club, which is govern by its own sets of Constitution. What was address in the AGM was a clarification on queries on the status of the forum which we stress that the Classified is stil closed at that point of time and will be reviewed from time to time.

The CM met earlier today and much was diacussed including the forum status and we believe that as far as the Classified is concern, everyone (OM n CG) had understood the intent of restricting the Classified and as such decided to have it opened albeit with a very close monitoring.

God willing bro, we the CM will refrain from saying this and that (full time job, volunteering and wht nought) as we believe that since we have accepted this responsibilities in managing the club, we will do our level best and give our best to the club. We are not perfect but that will not stop us from giving the members and the club our best.

Feedbacks are vital to us to work on our short-comings and that is how we can improve to make the forum or the club better. Your (and others in the forum too) comments, opinion and suggestions will always be welcome and rest assured we will always try to be open and positive towards it. We appreciate it all the same.

Cheers and have a good sleep bro :top: ...

From my PoV, the current committee could be overwhelmed with personal as well as club matters (both equally important of course) which was expressed by some CMs in other threads.

Perhaps an injection of fresh blood can spice things up for the club and this forum...?

I am marely sharing an observation so please to tell me to stand elected next round if I think I can do the job better.

The key to boost forum traffic is CONTENT and PROMOTION. So by opening up the Classified, is the right first step.

Honestly, i registered myself for 2 reasons.

1- To seek ideas for mods and to see other modded bmw.
2- Restrictions solely for OM.

Reason 1
Not much to see here really, mostly stock cars. Well once in a while they do appear, but from what i see on here or the from the event photos, mostly stock cars. Just like how i see my auntie next door bmw.

Reason 2
Only available for official member, unless i paid certain amount of money, then i can gain access to certain section of the forum. Yes i understand the offer from participating outlets for 10%-15% discount but really, this is the first paid forum i've been to gain special access when others offer free. Basically restrictions to certain areas in the forum does puts me off abit.

My only two reason shares the smallest of contributing factors to this issue. Some may argues about this but this is just my take. Doesnt solve the problem of this issue anyway.

Agree with you bro .... there are issues faced by ALL (CM, OM & CG for that matter) but we deal with it the best we can.

Each one of us joins the Forum and or the Club with their owns set of thinking and I do believe those that join the Forum to know abt the tech part of the udm, finds it useful. Others just join to mingle with buddy buddy and the Members Meet up is never short of activities each week ...

There are some that just register, ask a Q or two and cabuts after that, never to be seen years later .. :4: ...

As for the forum in mention, New Blood? Yes you hv a point there and I agree with you but sadly when it does really matter (AGM Election time) almost all will DEcLINe nomination! How then? :frown: Hopefully next year will be different :top: ...

Hopefully next year will be different.

Its been quite sometime im in this forum .... i seen so many guys in n out .... those the older guys just so lazy already .... no offence and this probably an individual interest that no1 can actually really debate on it .... my zero.five sen point of view ...
