Code 48 transmission, lock up clutch slip too much. RPM dropped every time when the gear shifts to 4th. Mechanic tells me that torque converter needs to be replaced and normally the g-box needs to be rebuilt as well which will cost 7k. Is that right?

same with my problem, planned to change the new torque converter and oil pump, heard that rebuild will not last long?

deng 7k! what usually cause the problem? driving habits, ageing parts or pure luck? hehe.

I got brand new zf torque converter and oil pump for sales. . . Suit for 5hp19 gearbox. . . Call me 0122207630 if interested. . .

Dvng.. Spot on.

Duke, its not as bad as you think. Its just that the torque band in the converter is damage and cost of rebuilding it is not too bad. Around1500 the last i did mind at eh transmission kepong. You might be lucky that they may have a unit there standing by for exchange. Better do it fast before the debris clog up your filter and causes low out pressure which then causes friction plates to slip and destroy the gb.

if direct exchange it is about 3 hrs. If recon your old one takes about 3 days. Don't forget you need to do a full reflush of the ATF. The atf oil is as costly as the recon torque convertor. 7.5litres@RM90 = RM675/=

EH Transmission is the name of the transmission place? Anyone has the number?
Thanks!

Bro "the duke" why not visit a shop in Batu caves, specialist in BMW gearbox. When I visited ZF Malaysia the sales manager told me this workshop is recommended for diagnosis and another in damansara I think. Let me dig out the name card....or any other CM's can recall the name?
