E46 gearbox fail

I have a 318i, 2002 model, N42B20

That is 6 speed gear box right?

i know the e90 n46 churns out 150bhp...does the e87 n46 the same as well?

Thanks guys. I have been quote figure as below based on my recent experience:

1. Gear box kit (ori ZF) 2900
2. Fly wheel oil seal 100
3. Oil pump 840
4. Repair torx converter 1200
5. Filter 100
6. ZF fluid 55 x 9 = 495
7. Labour 2000

Total : 7,635

Warranty 1 year

On the big ticket items, I was made to understand that gear box kit should be about 2k only. I also made to understand that gearbox specialist typically charge about 1.3 for labour. Anybody can verify this?

I think its on the high side.

In addition to what you stated above, Off hand I can observe the below:

1. Price quoted here doesnt include intercooler
2. Torque converter - my rebuilt only cost RM7++. Check if they giving you ZF rebuilt or normal rebuilt?
3. Fluid cant be so high. I remember i paid not so high.

Not much to comment on the rest though....

the ZF fluid is about right RM55 per litre if include the oil in the torque converter, 9 litres is about ok.
