Hi all,

My F30 is about 2+ weeks old and this morning a message "Increased battery discharge when stationary. Electrical consumers were temporarily switched off" appeared. This is a 2nd time it happened and after driving a while and after switching the engine off and then start it back, the message is gone.

I drive it on a daily basis and does anyone experience this before? Am sending it back to the dealer for a thorough inspection.

Thanks.

No mate. Have not encounter such error message. Looks like intermittent battery or charger issue there. Best to send in for diagnostic by the service center.

Dont forget to take a picture of the message to show the SA as it may not appear on your car when you take it in.

Sent in to the dealer today and they did a diagnostic. Couldn't find any problem and everything seems to be in proper order. However, they re-initiated the charging system and will have to monitor if the message appears again. Hopefully not.

Yes, the same thing happened to a F10 that belongs to a friend of mine. Hopefully nothing serious.

did u have any car camera that might be leeching the power?

another possibliity is the battery, a F30 customer was describing the same problem to me the day before.
went to AD but can't diagnose anything.
got fed up, went to one of our specialist thats good with audio and electricals, diagnose and narrow it down to the battery.
car was like 1yr old only

Happen to mine before when the car was few months old. Sent in to SC for checking, they reset the car and recharge the battery. Since then it never occur again. Touch wood.....

I've had this message on the loaner 316i when I sent my 520d in for some works. I can tell you with certainty that the cause is due to the car, for no apparent reason, left idle overnight or cooled, suddenly having had a faint whirring sound, like a blowing fan. I discovered it when I was in my car porch one morning, heard it and traced it back to the engine bay area near the wipers. Immediately after that episode, the car started with the error message.

I think it's related to the air recirculation mode settings in he car. When I set it to M or manual, I get that whirring sound but at A or automatic, so far it's OK. So, maybe the system was simply sucking fresh air into the cabin. Try this and see if the error repeats but I'm damn sure the discharge is caused by some fan or blower components running when engine is cold and stationary, especially left idle for some time

i have read sumwhere that the cabin ventilation can be programmed to cool the cabin down to whatever time that we set the system to.
maybe in the 316i this was done but the time was somehow messed with?

Same here, i recall that day some whirring sound before the error msg appear

If it is the same sound that once happened in my E60...its the cd player. In my case the cd player was the culprit. It was slowly sapping power even when it is off. The technician at Wearnes Autohaus traced it by segmenting the electronic circuitry. I had to replace the whole radio/cd player. It was too much work to find out which diode/component was malfunctioning and besides, nobody wants to do it or knows how to do it without damaging other parts. You cant simply weld the circuitry. Its a complicated affair. The car may not recognise the replaced part too.
So I bit the bullet and once the set was changed, no more this problem.

Please have ur car check in to ur nearest dealership and make a complaint about this. This is proberly an emergency activated ur car a/c blower motor that drain off ur battery charge. BMW has just release latest programing version to eliminate this issue. This issue mostly will happen to the f30 (especially 320i) from 2014.

Had the same message on my dad's E60, same issue with Beemerback CD player seems to keep on loading when engine has been shut off...one way to put the car to sleep is to press the push start button twice so that everything goes to sleep immediately
