Hi guys,Ok, I didn't think I'd ever buy a grey import BMW but after numerous test drives among the 520d, 523i, 528i, 535i GT and the 535i, I took the plunge on a UK spec F10 535i. Now, here's the tricky part, it comes with the UK GPS system. Does anyone know where I could get the MY & SG GPS maps downloaded onto the car? Are there any workshops out there that does the F10 that you know of? Your kind feedback is very much appreciated!

u have to buy it i believe. but don't waste your money. the GPS from BMW is hopeless. terribly outdated. mine is 2010 version and the road after terminal 3 subang and some parts of bkt jelutong doesn't even appear on the map. i asked quill if they can take it out and refund me the dough, of course you can guess the answer. garmin much better.

Hi wigertoods, thanks for the input. I guess I wanted to make full use of the 10" screen! I sure hope some kind forummer can provide some answers...

you can call ingress, AB or quill to ask. they should be able to do it for you, but it would be wise to compare the price.

Costs thousands for each update. Cheaper to get a Garmin and you will always get updated maps for FREE.

Tomtom's pretty useful but it's more hassle to hook up the power cable and also the mobile phone stand every time to use the iPhone as a GPS solution. How's the BMW GPS for F10? is it worth RM 3K to instal?

it's been useful and accurate for all the instances i've used it so far... like PWTC for some home fair, or the 6 series launch on jalan ampang, fastest route back to my office from wherever i am, also used it to find where the royal selangor showroom is in setapak for the audi a8 launch, etc. didnt have to key in address, just looked for point of interest and royal selangor was in there.

er no...i meant tom tom as in the real tom tom...not the app...the device itself which had been gaining praises in uk

The app and the device would likely be using the same map source so if the app is good the device should be good as well

i used the tomtom on my phone for more than 5 years now since i was in the UK, really user friendly. The tomtom dedicated unit is better i think since it have 3D/actual view of junction like the papago. much better interface than the others in my opinion.

yea...planning to replace my garmin with a tomtom....the garmin recalculates the whole day ==

Thanks for all your feedback guys, but I am still looking for an answer to my question. Does anyone know where I could get my grey import F10 to get the MY & SG maps? Any Auto Bavarian or Ingress Auto reps here to share your view? Or does anyone have the BMW Navigation DVD 2011/2010 I could purchase from?

For cars with the CIC system (F10, E90), the navigation maps are stored internally on the HD...

Your F10's Nav is the HDD version and you'll have to buy it from any authorised dealer, who will obtain the passcode through your VIN and upload it for you. No alternative, unless you can find an 'alternative' supplier who has cracked the passcode. Mine is the DVD version so that's easy enough to find.

I've upgraded to 2010, and the maps and location lists are good. Garmins, TomToms and iPhones aside, there's no substitute for having it on the dashboard screen and using the iDrive to manipulate it, while driving with the other hand on the steering. I have dozens of Garmins in my office, none of them sit in my car.

A friend of mine wanted to update his iDrive Malaysia map...and was told by AB it would cost him MR1500 bucks. And his car his barely 2 years old, still he couldn't find some places in Curve/Ikea on his map....no money, no talk world it definitely is!

Well, I'm glad I have it on my dash. In 3 years of using it when I needed it, it hasn't failed me yet. And any KL-lite who needs satnav around Curve/Ikea seriously needs professional help.

My DVD update didn't cost more than picking up the tab in a happy hours session, which I was happy to do anyway. Unfortunately, it's not so simple with the HDD version because they protect it, using encrypted passcodes in order to upload. That's standard software protection practice. But I bet I could find a crack keygen if I really need to.
