Something must be up. The last time I went on a highway drive to JB, one full tank got me more than 500km+.

My fuel consumption would normal dropped if the air filter is dirty or there's a leak in the exhaust. Mine is the M42 1.8 16V..
Fuel consumption for the M40 (before I replaced with the M42) was actually better.. can hit 400km per tank easily on city driving.. there was one time it got 500km before the light came on..

On the M42, I didn't get the O2 sensor properly done be still can get 350km at least, per tank.

for my m42, i get about 400km per tank. for long distance, i manage to clock 450km.

for the m40, i even did clock 550km before. it was at one point my engine was in tip top condition before she died.

I did mine in Puchong.. non-BMW workshop but conversion specialist.. haha..

i did mine at Ah Wai place. But if you want a good conversion, Optimum can do the job. :)

Was quote 7-8k there depending on my luck with the half cut condition. A little undecided as I have just spend about 3k on the engine when I've just bought the car. Test drove a M42 conversion and I have to say it's lovely.

Dear Gerald 5,
I must say your car's consumption is very high. Do you drive it hard and always caught in heavy traffic conditions?

When i achieved 498km on my last tank its on a very light footed driving mode. However, now i'm on my second tank and will drive more 'normally' (faster with occasionaly burst of speed). Will report on my car's consumption on this tank later.

I've refilled my tank this morning and precisely clocked 513.1km from 47.99 litres of petrol. The amber light (low petrol) came out at 500km. This is on mix city & h/way driving with minimal hard acceleration.

Just a lil update. Since my car is also steady at the 1/4 mark, I believe I am using the wrong thermostat as well, so I checked with BavAuto, the 71C is RM32 and the 88C is RM42.

For M42 conversion, you can try Ah Foo at Optimum.
