From my understanding i think that's quite good the minimum HTHS for a 40 weight oil is 3.5 cP. And looking at their castrol latest product offering Castrol Edge with Syntec 5W-40 it has a value of 2.9 cP (http://www.castrol.com/liveassets/b...ts/downloads/p,q/Edge_BLACK_PDS_Sept_2011.pdf) and higher is better in this case ... Of course additives and detergent plays a very important role too

I have read countless articles and post on BITOG and i still don't understand some of the technical meaning lol However one thing that i'm certain is that, it's the Oil Change Interval that is most important.

Having said that i still prefer Pennzoil compared to Castrol Edge 5W-40 ... but i would love to try SLX and Edge Sport 0W-40 :D

Comparative table for most oil in the market:-

1st page updated with oil information and resources at the bottom of the post :D

Another very important component when it comes to changing the engine oil ... Oil filter! Below video is provided by BMW and shows the importance of getting a genuine filter

Please note that the fake filter that they're comparing to is not MANN filter but a fake knock-off of an oem MANN filter

I rev and redline often so high HTHS is very crucial to me.
Engine oil should be replaced every 6 months regardless how little miles was driven.
Because I travel more than 5000km in 6 months, I use full sync oil to have longer changing interval.

For Castrol Edge Sport 0w-40(i think this is what I got), around 10k-12k, I replace the engine oil with new filter.
Is funny, I didn't know Castrol 5w-40 HTHS was that low at 2.9. But you can't meet MB229.5 if cp is lower than 3.5.
And they didn't mentioned Ash% & Sulfer%.

Besides on HTHS value, my minimum oil requirement of:
ACEA A3/B3 (not A3/B4, which I believe is newer spec oil with Group III base stock)
MB 229.5 (again, not 229.51, which is newer oil)

Thinking to switch to Penzoil on my next oil change. How can I order ? :)

I am currently using Ravenol 10W60 fully Synthetic for the first time, don't feel any difference as compared to TOTAL.

Your 10W40 @ RM125 is Full or Semi Synthetic?

Tesco is selling the Castrol oils from the European market (euro made) through their large mass buying power. Thats why they can sell it cheap. The funny shaped bottles is destined for the euro market.
