Will your engine runs smoothly with the semi syn? How long before you have to change the liquid? 5K? I did mine between 5-7K depending on how long it has been used even with the fully syn to avoid slugh.

I never use it more than 5k km or 3 months (whichever comes first). Engine is smooth and been using it for 2 years. Another thing is having new engine mounting and gbox mounting really helps a lot

This is what I use for my rides.

E36 318i Torco SR1 5W30 fully syn
E46 318i 2.0 Q8 5W40 fully syn
X3 2.5SI Q8 5W30 fully syn
C200 W202 Q8 10W40 semi syn

Oil changes at 5000km diligently

Found out that there is actually Petronas Synthium 7000, on sale in Japan but not in Malaysia; 0W/20 grade....really thin oil, maybe not suitable to our weather

U need to be very lucky to get Tesco's promo oil.

1. Not all outlets sell the same price, or run the same promo
2. When they are running the promo, stock will run out very fast. Often you end up seeing empty shelf.

My N46B20 is running this promo Castrol Edge 0W-40 now.. managed to grab one bottle only for testing, during one of our grocer shopping trip. Now headache for replenish my stock for next change.

A friend is selling Toyota Genuine Fully Synthetic 5W-40 at RM150/4L bottle. SC selling RM208.. I book one for my Avanza, due change next week.

My Avanza been running Castrol Edge 5w-40 for past 3.5 years and it's first 3 warranty years was on Toyota Genuine Full Synthetic 5w-40.. :4:

The part shop I frequent at Uptown offered me Castrol Edge 5w-40 @ RM18x and Castrol Powerflow SLX 0w-30 for RM19x but low stock though, was told Castrol discontinued the SLX oil. I prefer it over the new Castrol Edge 0w-40.. engine livelier as the SLX is thinner. If I couldn't get any better deal for 0w-30 or 5w-30, I will use this RM19x SLX for my next oil change, provided they still have stock la.. :63:

Sounds good, at least it's not Pennzoil, don't quite like American oil because they are allowed to name a Group III oil (mineral mix with synthetic, we call it semi-sync) as 100% Synthetic.... which is also distributed by UMW. But many good feedback for this Toyota Genuine Motor Oil a.k.a TGMO. And its cheaper than my regular Castrol Edge 5w-40..

as far as i know only Castrol TWS and Mobil 1 (gold) is from group IV oil only. dunno it is true or not.
