Now I'm itchy.. :p

I wonder if this is Group III or Group IV oil..

But was told this oil is not cheap, most spare part shop refuse to stock.. :(

This oil retails for more than 200 bucks for a 4 liter can.

Performance wise...all I say is :top::top::top:

Cheers

Can give it a try... my Group III Torco also over RM200 lio but less than RM250.. :( spare part shop told me this Castrol 0w-40 is about RM280 to RM300/4L..

hope it doesnt evaporate easily in our hot running engines or it would be a waste of money...

Only thin oil will evaporate.. and thin oil makes engine lighter, thus promote fuel efficiency and better pick up. These trade offs may give you more value than upset over the evaporated oil..

Thanks all for the reply. Weighting some options now and searching whats available. I'm only going for semi coz I want to do oil change every 6k-7k, I travel alot.

As this topic have been covered before and at length, I hope you can stick your comments to the following:
1) Semi synthetics only
2) I just top overhauled my car and all seals are already "new & sealed". So what should I use that is suitable, 10w40, 5w40, 5w30? Especially for a 6 cylinder. The why use thinner, I know.
3) What brand is available? Only semi-syn 5w30 & 5w40 as highlighted in question 2. I think there are many semi 10w40 around.

The cheapest Fully Syn Oil that meet BMW LL-04 standard

BMW Longlife is not equal to BMW-04, in fact BMW Longlife is less than BMW-01, should be = BMW-LL98, meaning suitable for BMW year 1998 and below.. non-vanos and non-valvetronic engines.

Still that's cheaper than Q8, also another BMW Longlife or BMW Special oil or what ever.. used it in my E90 before.. :p drain out lio... phew!!

... and North/South American call it 100% Synthetic while European call it Fully Synthetic.. European standard is more stringent and the 100% Synthetic is not governed by the European standards..

MORE..

a quick look at the oil by Perodua which i took back last time for my Myvi, the bottle says 5w30 and 'Semi-Synthetic'.

but why 5w30 is considered as Semi-Syn not Fully Syn by Perodua? Its confusing which i think 5w30 is good 30wt oil already used by BMW dealers?

only 0w30/ 40 is cinsidered Fully Syn oil?

Maybe that's what the American blender refer to as "Cross Blend" for their 100% Synthetics, as Schwepps mentioned mixing Group 3(mineral) and Group 4(chemical), which is Semi Synthetic by European standard.

Group 1 to 3 are all mineral based while Group 4 & 5 are chemical based.

If not mistaken, Castrol Magnatec has 5W-30 Semi-Sync.

I am running Torco 5W-30 100% Synthetic BMW-LL04 for my E90, very smooth ma.. :p Aiyaa, just make sure I drain them no more than 10k km loo... not cheap also.. more than RM200 for 4L :(
