Warranty or BSRI?
Your peeling steering cover can claim warranty. All peeling of upholstery can claim..

Warranty or goodwill? I had my peeling side door panel (the black one with the power window switches) replaced FOC, but Sapura told me it's not covered under warranty but they claimed it under goodwill.

Rach, I asked for the following in my last service at IA at 48K KM:

1. Change wiper blades
2. Update the OBC software to the latest
3. To check on my rattling sound near driver's air-con side (later they found a 20 sen coin)

The rest of it are standard, i.e oil filter etc.

Schwepps may have some more inputs....

Rachel, if your warranty is due, try to get them to change the engine mounts. It's not covered under BSRI and will need changing usually sometime in the 3rd or 4th year. They'll only do it if the mounts are worn and a typical symptom is that your car vibrates at a certain RPM range. You'll need to be convincing. Geddit?

I'm still wondering how they managed to fish out your 20 sen coin MSport. I know how it got in there, but how'd they get it out? I'll tell you the former, if you tell me the latter. :)

hai all,ATF change not cover under BSRI...we must pay for it...total cost around rm150 for labour and rm857.70( RM122.53X7Lfor ATF)..we can change when 60,000km or below than that... yea, another car manufacturer like mercedes, they also said ATF is life time oil,no need to change..but after they counter some problem from transmission, the AG come out with the memo,ATF must change every 60k...
logic thinking, inside the auto transmission, they are alot of gear clutch and gear brake..this gear always running in high speed to transfer the power from engine,so it will have friction and produce metal chip.this metal chip make the gear oil become thick.if we never change this ATF,the metal chip will kill our transmission slowly.

p/s:my 5sens opinion.

Ooh... I got 10K km to go for my brake pads, but odo is reading at 51,5xx km... how to I make the brake pad reading come down faster ah? :listen:

BTW, this is for the rear brake pads. Front ones still got 15K km to go.

just drive your as usual..but make sure before 60k go to workshop and check using key reader....if lucky, key reader will show due service rear brake... and u can change foc for las BSRI.hehe..

2 ways:

1. Park the car on a 45 degree slope with front facing up, then get a couple of Bangla to rock and shake the car..

2. Look for straight roads, engage sport mode and pedal to the metal... do it few times... sure can wan..

I changed my ATF oil and did not do it at any of the dealers. Bought the ZF oil from Bavarian Auto at RM60.00 per litre x 7 litres and we are also require to change the ATF oil filter which cost 500+. Labour cost around RM60. If you do it at the dealers, prepare to pay double for everything.

When the mechanic drained the oil from the gearbox. It was black in colour. The original colour is transparent. So better change the oil and oil filter.

Another oil area to change which is not in the BSRI is the differential box, connected to the longarm and to the rear wheels. Have to get more information of this part.

Just my 2 cents

Questions:

1. What's your mileage?

2. How u know u using ZF box and not GM box?

3. Where's the workshop? :D PM me if not convenient..

Thanks!

yea...if u change ATF at outside workshop, forsure the cost less then send to dealer... but for E60&E90 dont have atf filter,so just change the oil because latest transmission. For E46 got filter, dealer price around Rm417 1set. REMEMBER,E60&E90 use new ATF oil(if use , price alittle bit higher compare E46 use another type atf oil.

For rear axle oil, it still can consider lifetime..hehe.

What u mean E90 no ATF filter? BMWs has replaced his la. ref: 3 posting above for RM500..

E90&E60 use this transmission,so no need change the filter,if u see the part catalog no filter inside.item no.1 is 1set oil pan that will cost u RM 988.72.this item change only if oil pan crack.why u need change this oil pan if change ATF? i said previous transmission like use in E46 got atf filter, it will cost rm417 1set.

p/s:ETK infront of me now..can check and compare both trans.

Okay..

http://forums.5series.net/uploads/1162137709/gallery_237_213_323991.pdf

Go to page 25/39.. on the page, there's a diagram.

On the diagram, item No 6 says: Oil strainer with inlet pipe (integrated in transmission oil pan)

Source: http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/strainer
Main Entry: strain·er
Pronunciation: \ˈstrā-nər\
Function: noun
Date: 14th century

: one that strains: as a : a device (as a sieve) to retain solid pieces while a liquid passes through b : any of various devices for stretching or tightening something

Sounds to me... like a filter..:39:

And I have seen before the "oil pan cum strainer" is not metal.. RM500 eh?! Wow!

Bro,

1) 60,000k

2) ZF-Lifeguardfluid 6. Part No: AA00604149 (Red Bottle Cap) recommended for 6 speed gearbox. Only 1 type in the market and Bavarian Auto only has this type. Even the dealers are using the same. (www.zf.com)

3) Euro Tech (Sunway Damansara) - Ah Soon 012-6922293. Get the ZF oil from him. Cheaper :)

Cheers

The oil pan is the filter. I would rather invest RM500+ to changed it then risk overhauling gearbox.
To overhaul E46 gearbox cost 4.5k. Then E90 might cost 10k or more.

Cheers

AB,

If you plan to change your GB oil. Let me know, i still have 2 litres. Bought 8 litres from Bavarian Auto but actually only use 6 litres. The balance 2 litres is at the torque converter area of the GB. To change that, have to remove GB from the engine and its only recommended to change at 120k km.

Cheers
