E90 engine oil low

I use Liqui Moly 5W40 Top Tech for the past 8000 km. So far no top up needed. I think it's good for my N52B25 engine.

Yeah I was introduced to this oil some time back..any different in car performance fadh?..My engine same as yours..bro consog, probably we should try this oil on next change..

Yup...so far after 2k with mobil f1,so good...might try the liqui moly oil. then can compare.

Of course it could be because of the Liqui Moly Ceratec and the Jet Clean Tronic as well. I think you should give it a shot on your next service - Top Tec, Ceratec and Jet Clean Tronic.

Hi bro , I just check with my mechanic he is asking for 1week to replace the seals and the cost will be around 2k++.

Saya baru menggunakan bmw model 320i e90 year made 2006. Saya juga ada masalah yg sama dan ekzos mengeluarkan asap putih bila menekan minyak. Semalam saya ada pergi ke sebuah workshop di Desa Tun Razak. Mekanik bagitau itu memang biasa berlaku bagi model kereta yang saya pakai dan kos untuk membaik pulih adalah rm10k ke bawah. Jadi minta khidmat nasihat para2 sifu dalam hal ini. Terima Kasih

Oh dear. My car is approaching more than 4 years but so far, except for a minor sensor issue. IF i regularly change the engine oil, touch wood i never needed to top up anything between service interval. If it is really a common defect, I am incline to dump the car for something else as a bill of more than 4k doesn't look pretty to me.

Or is it because of certain batches of four cylinder e90s? I had a e46 before that never makan any engine oil before also. E90 320 is a technical update of the old N46 right?

how to know whether it is oil sensor or valve seal prob?how much do valve seal cost as i read from d post is around 1k +++ to 4k..too much difference

im not to sure...but myself last time i change the valve seal bcoz of the white smoke n mkn minyak itam..its cost me about below 1k...

my car problem is settled...it was valve seal problem due to change...tested about 2months from december 2012 -february 2013 and 5000km ++ fully syn oil, no more asap putih and no more loss engine oil.
service done by Fastlane (mini cooper) at Tmn Mayang PJ. the cost is about rm1k++.

Bro, Can give the address of the workshop. I want them to check on the valve seals as well. 7km, used 8 L engine oil lately. Keep topping up every 2 k km. Could be it be oil sensor problem ?

this white smoke and makan black oil problem is very common for e90s, especially 320 according to my workshop.

they overhaul an average of 1 e90 monthly.

just sent mine for top overhaul to (hopefully) fix this problem. Quoted 4k+

Go check it out bro. 1 liter top up every 2k-3k km is not normal. I just came back from MSpeed. Had some leaks at the lower part (i.e. oil sump, o-ring, etc...). So got that fixed. But a lot of work (1 whole day) as need to remove transmission, exhaust, etc.... to reach the part. Also, found out sensor was faulty so changed that as well.

So you might also want to check out your sensor. So far with new sensor- travel 30 minutes and it still shows MAX. With old sensor, upon start up about 5 mins, will show MAX; after 15 mins HALF, then about 30 mins "MIN". If your sensor shows such symptoms, best get it changed. RM280 at MSpeed.

I agree that this top up is definitely not normal. I dont need to top up at all.

This is a good price. I did a top overhaul which caused me much much more

Just sharing...
Makan minyak itam...dissapear of engine oil...
Does ur exhaust emits white or blue gas...
Do you ahve to top up every 2-3 days...how many ltrs...

Normally the valve seal already hardened thats coz the engine oil to escape thru it and burns in side the combustion chamber...
A top overhaul will solve this issues by replacing the valve seal...
But if the consumption is to much there is possibilities that that piston rings gone also...

Sensor will not make your engine oil dissapear so much and you can visuallise in the engine bay itself...
Show of leaking at valve cover gasket sensor switches...
Just my 2cents...
