Hello all, I am very new to BMW's and i was hoping if someone could help me up with the variation in models of the e320d.From what i read there are 5 version. (correct me if i am wrong)1. Normal2. Limited edition - with carbon stuff3. Performance pack?4. Sport - with bodykit?5. M sport - bodykit and i drive? Also heard that there is a engine upgrade of some sort?Any help would be great! Thanks guys!

4 versions now available out there:

1. Original M-sport spec with 177hp/350Nm
2. Limited Edition M-Sport spec with 177hp/350Nm, carbon fibre & aluminium trims & signature
3. Performance Edition M-Sport spec with 184hp/380Nm, aluminium trims, performance aerokit
4. 2011 M-sport spec with 184hp/380Nm with i-drive

Thank you, Maniac for the info.

Do you know what model is this? It says limited (performance edition) but does not have the carbon stuff nor the 184hp engine.

May i know when was the performance model (184hp) launched? And do all subsequent 320d models have the 184hp engine?

Thanks again.

Its the 2010 Performance Edition with 177hp/350Nm engine that comes with aluminium trim. Today's performance edition models comes with 184hp/380Nm engine and the updated 184hp/380Nm engines was introduced sometime in the 4Q last year. Hope this info clears your confusion.

To me, I would simplify it this way

1. 177hp/350Nm model available before mid 2010
2. 184hp/380Nm model available after mid 2010

All are M-Sport variants ie. the come with M-Sport seats, steering and suspension as standard equipment. The rest (Performance, Limited, etc) are mostly cosmetic add-ons to either #1 or #2 car. The only add on that's not cosmetic is the 320d iDrive edition available earlier in 2011.

Thanks again guys!

One final question i hope....

Assuming the car is mid 2010. Is there a way I can tell if it has the 184hp or 177hp engine?

Thanks!

If u r buying pre-owned from auto Bavaria, u can get them to print out the spec sheet by keying in the vin number in their system. If the power rating is 135kw then it is the uprated model. If 130kw it's the former obviously.

Just booked one last week. The torque is just too intoxicatingly addictive.

Suggest u get the uprated engine if u r getting a pre-owned. There r a few units of black, white n space grey still avail at auto Bavaria premium selection. Those registered in march/may 2010 r non uprated engines whilst nov 2010 r the ones to go for. Mileage is between 1k to 7k only. All are asking 215k nego.
