I just owned a 2004 530d and the key fob seems to be not working as i have to manually lock and unlock the doors and also the fuel cap is not locked.I've been searching through the forums and most are for E46. Has anyone encounter this kind of problem and I hope that others can shed some light for me to overcome this situation.

congrats on ur new ride bro. question: does the car came with only 1 (one) key fob? might b a simple case of changing the key fob battery. but then again, the fob should be charged when u insert it in.

i bought it used so there's only one key for me..and as an update...when to tint the windows yesterday and they said that the heater element has broken off at many places and as I understood that the heater element also function as a receiver for FM and also for the remote..still searching for any solution and for now I have to lock it manually

You can try this if not it is a job for a car key expert:-(

Like what gendong mentioned, have you checked the battery? Could be a bad one and need replacement.

I believe the key fob he got can't replace batteries.....charging the key fob wont resolve the issue? Best if u can get another new key fob & reprogrammed it for ur car...at least u have 2 keys afterwards

as and added info...I've already went to the locksmith or key expert and they said the battery is rechargeable and not advisable to open the key fob as it would break apart...also the cost of a new key and programming would cost around RM1200++...I've also done as the video and seems to be not working and I'm still searching for other alternative or maybe I should just DIY the key and replace the battery
