try ignoring this for a few days and see if it disappears....i do this most of the times if it is not a critical system.sometimes it is just morning sickness.or you can try this :
1. drive at least 200 meters and stop with wheels straight.
2. shut down engine for 10 mins
3. restart and drive n see if the msg disappears..

If it does not, your sensor (in the steering wheel) may be dirty n requires cleaning.

.

Any severe problem before or active steering just appear like that? Few items could be happening, need to get diagnose device to check the damage part, mine happen on the Active Steering Electronic Board under the seat. Some problem with angle sensor, some happen with the rack (rarely happen), some happen on the rack sensor, can try go MSpeed (as Herbert recommended me before), look for Ah Meng.. he may sort out for you...

If you are diy guys, you can start by cleaning your szl sensor disc. Check szl faulty in the forum.

Salam and Good Day,

Some updates.... oil service change

This time I tried Castrol fully synthetic oil with higher viscosity + oil treatment

Not BMWLL01 or BMWLL04

Previously when i used revenol oil 10w-60 I no need to top up engine oil... and I expecting the same with this castrol oil

Downside here... when using thick oil either revenol or castrol ... i feels the engine rev feedback slightly heavier compare using 5w-40...

Service cost

For the next service I will get FOC for the 4th engine oil purchase

Since you are not using M5, seems you are using beyond recommended SAE. There is possibility of few section of your engine section will not be properly lubricated. As a result, you will feel a bit sluggish and heavy. In a long term, it may cause sludge and damage your engine.

But I 'm not the expert. Maybe you should email to BMW CustomerCare to advise you on the oil that you are using now. Don't trust mechanic, they are not engine oil specialist. Not worth of solving your oil evaporation issue by causing larger issue later.

I suggest you use max SAE 40 and below.
My 2.6 cent...

i thought 10w60 is for M5 only. If you are losing engine oil, there might be some issue with the piston ring.

Loosing little bit engine oil in N52 is normal.. 1 liter for every 8 to 10k km is okay according to user manual... and i never experience loosing engine oil when using 10w-60 engine oil spec

I and few others hv been using 10w-60 and no other issue.. no engines sludge... because my interval oil change is every 10k km only... not as per recommended in user manual of 20k km

Hi Unos,

How are you doing? Talk about engine oil my e60 don't like shell oil ultra 5w-40. Around 1 liter disappear after 6k interval. It never happened after I did my valve seal change. My previous oil is Castrol edge 5w-40 was ok. Something weird??! Anyway will try mobil1 next month to confirm either the oil problem or the my piston ring start to giving up on me. But what make you change to this soooo thick oil?

Previously Im using this spec engine oil with no issue... now Im using it again...

Some of e60 onwer is using bmw engine oil... that is mineral base and interval change at 4k or 5k km..

And some did use 10w-60 spec with change interval of 8k to 10k km..

U may refer or read through to below link for e60 parts and maintenance threads

Bro,
All Certified Long Life BMW Oils are Fully Synthetic. The oils are engineered to provide better tolerance for BMW engines compared to any other oil in the market.

I suggest you check with Mr.Google to understand why higher SAE not good for our car engine especially for countries with high sulfur in their fuel like Malaysia and US.

Anyway, no body know more about your car than you do. Choose wisely.

Whats your current mileage?

10w60 is definitely on the heavy side , especially considering that the e60 m5s usse that same weight.

The bentley manual actually specs 5w 30/40 for the n52 engines for our climate (ambient temp.)

I hv this error message for past few weeks

Tested by foreman and found out the battery is weak

Take out the ori bmw battery 90Ah that was purchased back in 2013

Weeks and year stamp on the terminal

For replcement i choose Varta DIN 100 100Ah for RM580 include resetting and register the battery

Today I also change aircond compressor control valve at SSG car workshop in taman salak selatan.

Same symtom as previously 2 3 years back. Aircond tak sejuk while car not moving. Also aircond lambat sejuk

Workmanship for servicing + compressor control valve + gase + compressor oil = RM688

Now ready for balik kampung drive
