3) Oil filter element
4) Inspection & Labour

Total: 656.10

Sorry, forgot the breakdown...

Has anyone changes their E46 front absorbers before? I am wondering whats the damage for the OEM ones.

Thanks in advance
Chief

Holy crap calvinchai, RM1k-1.5k per service is quite a lot bro. When I bought my car used I spent about RM3k++ for engine wear and tear. After that RM300++ for oil and oil filter every 5000km.

Bro yip, servicing at ab is a little bit expensive compared to bmw specialist. You would probably save abt RM100++ if you did your servicing at a bmw specialist.

Yo chief, I don't know how much oem absorbers cost but do remember to change the mounting, damper and boot too.

tamade7,

Thanks for the advise. Since i took the delivery of the car from there that day, i just decided to let them carry out an oil change service and reset the OBC. Will surely consider other shops for the next service which is either at 10k or 25k as per manual. Haven't decide yet....

Front Shocks Pricing

I recently got a pair of front replacement shocks for my E46 318i 2000 model. They cost me RM350 per unit(BOGE branded ones), I also sourced for Blistein, I could get them at RM330 per unit but my rears are new BOGEs therefore I think it is better to stick back to the same brand.

Can anyone confirm that I paid too much for the shocks?

Joey Low

The front Boge's shocks are approx RM350 each, the rears shd be RM300 for a pair....

So, prices paid are hence reasonable...

Thanks for the price confirmation, I am planning to go for an ATF change. I bought my E46 318i 2000 with 103Ks on it and think that maybe it is a good idea to change it. I heard that prices range from RM500+ to RM600+ and can someone recommend me a place that is in PJ to do it?

the price u mention is without flushing, u might be able to get cheaper than that maybe at RM 450 in M-Performance in taman mayang, but they are not using ESSO LT71141 which is recommended, they are using ZF fuild (which is the manufacturer of E46 gearbox). if u need flushing, it will cost u around RM 800-900 including gasket & filter change.

For ATF change, it'll take approx 5 litres of gear oil. If one would to do a flush, it'll probably take up to at least 9 litres, some even more, hence the extra $$$ paid for...

As Mouse pointed, always use the BMW recommended ESSO LT71141....

1st major damage to my E46. Just 1 1/2 months after I took delivery and the air-cond compressor blew. Sigh.

Went to a few places but all claimed that the compressor cannot be repaired.

Went to Naidu who opened up the compressor. Was told that some cooling coil component (can't remember that part's name) was faulty. Waited for 4 hours but unfortunately he couldn't source for any spare parts.

Had to opt for a new compressor + change air cond filter for RM2,700. *Ouch*

bro, M43 engine is a 4 potter, y do u need 5 litre of engine oil for 4 potter? 4 litre is sufficient, just make sure dun overfill your engine.

guys,

After looking around for some quotes for an atf flush i finally found a space that quoted me a reasonable price, 8 liters of longlife atf from germany(some brand starting with v****, forgot wat already), filter and gasket(metal type), all for rm600+. It's a famous bmw specialist in tmn mayang jaya near the old lim kok wing.

Just came back from another expensive trip to the workshop. Heres the damage

1. Hi-Rev 9050 5 litres - RM200
2. Oil Filter - RM45
3. Engine Mounting - RM280 (RM140x2)
4. Gearbox Mounting - RM70 (RM35x2)
5. Front Brake pads - RM290
6. Front Brake discs - RM570 (RM285x2)

Got this done at H @ OKR

Need to find a cheaper alternative for future service.

:( there goes 1.5k and my mood to enjoy the weekend. Starting to think that maintaining a UDM is ridiculously too high.

Cheers
