E46 parts & maintenance

Latest damage. My Xenon Control Unit aka ballast went kaput recently.
Initially I thought the bulb is the culprit so went to Eurocar motorsport to "upgrade" to 6000K HID bulb but the workshop below Eurocar checked and told me is the control unit :beaten:

Anyway went to another mechanic for a second opinion and the outcome still the same.

Xenon control unit approx RM 1500 from Bavarian Auto - Jln. Ipoh with 1 month warranty after much indignant protest. Initially no warranty.

- Fan belt bearing/labour $80.00

- Fan belt tensioner $148.00

- Oxygen sensor/labour $650.00

- Service - Oil filter/engine oil $298.00

- Radiator/labour (had a hairline crack) $680.00

- Thermostat / fixing $200.00

- Radiator top hose $135.00

- Radiator coolant $26.00

- Oil sump gasket/labour $250.00

- Oil ring washer (9 pcs) / Gear oil top up (2 ltr)/labour $600.00

Total $3067.00

Hope my baby appreciates all these and runs well.

NKTOB: Same as yours....i believe.. fully synthetic Castrol.

4 potter is using 4L... 6 potter 6.5L..

1.9L 4 potters are closed to 5 litre dude

i just changed my to new CASTROL EDGE xW-40

not CASTROL EDGE SPORT which is xW-60

So far very smooth n quiet

yes u r right, 4 litre for 4 potter 318i just nice touching the max line (most important not to overfilled over the max line)

Bro leakwoon,

My E46 is 2.0 valvetronic only used 4.25 liters of engine oil. I think you better get yours oil level checked. Consult your manual and see what is the right amount of engine oil.

Did you do your oil change at your regular shop?

ya la leakwoon, siao meh u put an extra litre, unless u got engine leak la ...as long as your dipstick indicate oil level in the middle you're ok liao bro...

bro FYI engine oil overfill will damage the engine in long run, this is worse than fill up less oil lah...always get the mech to fill 4 litre only for your car, not enought then only fill the little extra, mine 6.25 also i put 6 only due to some old still inside the engine.

totally agree, mine 4 litre i fill 3.8 (anyway guys, maybe if there is a need, we can make a new topic on this) affraid later moderator comment that this is for parts & maintenance.

Car stalled at traffic lights..after restarting, car can barely move. Can't even reach 100km/h...all the cars are zooming pass me. I thought I saw a baby stroller over taking me too....

Went to ah Meng, found that the cam sensor koyak....

damage done...RM750 for both the sensors including labour....

Hi Guys,

Just changed my brake pads and disc below is th cost:-

Disc: RM230 (a pair)

Pads: RM105 (a pair)

Labour: RM55

Next works shall be the klocking sound from the strearing area.......dunno if its the stearing rack or the bushes....

The wide angle heated mirror would cost you about RM 340 and there is a cheaper alternative but it is neither heated nor wide angle.
