Try stroking the engine. Currently my mechanic is stroking an e60 M54b22 to 2.7l.

Stroking means to increase the stroke of the engine and thus effectively increasing the capacity. Your enigne has a 84mm bore, 75mm stroke where you can increase your stroke to 89.6mm and it will become a 3.0l engine. You can also increase the bore but it requires more work because the block needs to re-sleeve. To get everything done it takes about 10 working days.

Crank need to change. Cam is optional but prefered.
