Yeah, listen to Affan, if you want to do it, do it kaw-kaw punya, immediate satisfaction and will stop the itchy feeling if you go at it slowly. Once done, you can fully enjoy the labour of love.

But, by all means, if you got time, try to have a listen to some of the forumers or friends set-up. Different speakers (and pairing) got different characters and it might not suite your taste. IMHO for example dyn give good dynamic and very good in its presentation of music, but it just not my taste, thus I prefer Focal. Go for an amp that is clean and warm, easier to match your comp. To much naturalness is not good (my opinion, others might not agree) as it will flaten the sound.

Not that familiar with Pioneer HU, though their P9 is briliant (but need together with the processor). Saw a forumer advertise in here (you might wanna check) as the price is good. If it's the same level as the 7998, go get it man. I think you don't need to go the processor route unless you want to go for competition, that's why I suggest the Eclipse 8454/55, 7998 or D2 as these are cheaper ways (as it has in built processor). But if you got the mo by all means man.

Van and Affan, you guys wanna add. I think the cost will set you back around RM5k to RM15k. Heheheee

MH,

Go with the JVC is you like what you see ... just be sure to listen to it ... ask the shop for a listening session and bring YOUR own CDs. But if you wanna look at top flight SQ decks with built in processors, the HX-D2 and 7998Rs are the way to go. The Eclipse are also not bad too Or look at the CD700 from Naka if you want understated elegance and sound ... You will spend no more than RM 3-4K for any of the above decks - PM me if you want more details and where to get em.

The amps .... IMHO, avoid the new generation Soundstreams, RF, PPI and most of the US brands. They are being made in ASIA and quality is no longer as good as they were. The ones that you are refering to are the RF Punch series .... avoid it if you can, my friend unless budget is holding you back. Or look for some ol school amps from the likes of RF, PPI, Soundstream, Phoenix Gold, US Amps, Zapco and etc as they are still reknowned for the sound & build quality. Since you spend some time in SIN, go walking-walking in Sim Lim. Look our for some nice European brands like Phass, Audison, Steg, Audio System, DLS, Helix and PHD. Their prices are much lower than here and the sound quality will take most of these US amps to the cleaners.

As for the sub ... either a single 12 inch or a 2 x 12 will do. For the kind of sound that you are aiming for, please put these subs in a well built sealed enclosure to optimum results. Personal favourites wud be - IDMax or IDQ from Image Dynamics, W6V2 or W3V2 from JL Audio, UR12 from DLS, CDT HD120 from CDT, K2 subs from Focal, the Shiva or Brahma from Adire Audio and a few more. Again, let your ears be the judge.

These are but some suggestions .... please shop around a bit and most importantly, find a good installer who will tailor a system to suit your taste, needs and budget. Avoid those buggers who will recommend everything from this to that ... chances are they only want to have a fling with your wallet.

Cheers bro ...

i had already changed new 6" component set into my e36..
and i had found the inches from original nokia speaker with box,its 6".
so i no need to modified / installed it at accessories shop.
the 6" components set sound is greater than original nokia set.
so i planning to replace my front nokia speaker to the 5" component sets. :lazy:

Congrats bro ...

Glad you're enjoying your new found sound .... what comps did you put in the rear ? Cheers !!!

VaN.

surprising. Looks like there is two variants of the Nokia box. This must be the upgraded speakers used in the late model Nokia handphones. Hahahaha

Affan,

I think the driver is still a 4 plus incher. It's the box that spans 6 inch wide la. So if you take the box away, the empty opening shud take a 6 inch driver without issue ....

oh.. yeah.. that's right. I installed a pair 6" inverted driver woof woofs back there remember?
