E36 318i slow in engage the gear

Dear All,For Yr07 E36 318i, when doing reverse, it needs to take 3-5sec to engage into gear, it is normal?

No..it is not normal to take even 3 seconds.. check gearshift position switch. It could be worn out.

why is that? because you always have to pass thru the reverse gear before can engage "D" mode. :rolleyes:
 
I tend to get this in the a.m even for D - but it's gone by lunch - hence been stalling
to get it check out ...wonder if it's the early signs of a kaput gb / clutch ....

Same like me bro...I used almost 6 years until now.
