Hi Fellow E34ers especially the sifus :Am trying to figure out the best path to consider taking. Current ride : e34 M20B25 with a stick :top: Possible engine upgrade options :1. M50B25TU (can i maintain my stick?)2. M50B20TU..........subsequent stroke-up to 2.8 (can i STILL maintain my stick?)3. M60B30 or M60B40....slurrrpppp.......but how difficult to transplant/maintain etc? mizan/blackhowling....yr cue is here ! Hahaha!(CAN I STILL MAINTAIN MY STICK? ....or are their manual trannys available?4. Not sure if this is senseless question but howbout the M52s and M54s? Advice on pros and cons on the above options greatly appreciated  Thanks Guys !

Then sell to me the m20b25 he..he..he..
How's your starex?

no complaints at all about the M60B30.. other than fact it isn't a 4 liter. over a year now.. not even an oil leak.

I figure that the m30 is rather oldish.......however a cheaper alternative looking at the going rate for one....mmmmm....my stick still can use ah?

that can be considered.........when I've chosen the path

How's your starex?
Hahaha....u remembered !
Actually if I could transplant the starex engine into the 34.......fuyoh ! Now thats an engine with torque ! Extremely happy....no issues so far:love:.....seems the koreans have improved. Are you getting one?

wahhhh.....so many options. hahahaha

but u must ask ur self first, what do you want out of the engine, and how big your pocket? then only can all the sifu's here suggest you something. :D

and how big are your balls ???

So far - E34 4.4 for torque, M5 for handling

and how fast you want to go ?

cubic capacity + type of car + what engine = MONEY RM !!

ken, you have great menu up there, but what I notice is you want "happy meals + stick"...hmm..tough choices there..., for me the stick aledi "potong" for long time liao la..

I think you won't be wrong if you chosse set no 1, 2 or 3.

For me , I wish to have 4.0 ler...., no stick please...

Money fall from sky maaa ... :stupid:

Sometimes - i can't understand why we spent that much on an old junk ....
But then again ..... :top:

seems OP wants to maintain existing stick shift. i'd just rebuilt the current engine and do a 3l stroker using the s52/m54 crank. if it doesn't work u can go correct wikipedia ahkakaka. nice fresh engine ready for boost if feel like more power.

Thanks Ram and the rest of the sifus......I guess its all abt the moolahs

6.5K for an M60B40 half cut sounds appetizing.....does that sound about right?
Award-winning engine with plenty of torque....slurrpy :top:

not contemplating an m5 engine of course....been reading about 535i's upgrade

M60 in a car that's approaching her 20th birthday....does that sound right too?

I guess that's why I'm terming it a dilemma

would the M50B25TU with a stick make me happy?.........sigh...decisions..decisions

M60 is a good engine, but there's 2 of everything. so be ready for higher maintenance if you just plug n play. to get the engine into good shape, dun be shy to spend money, at least when the engine is not in the bay yet. reduces your down time later. and registration will be another issue, so be ready for it. there are ways to do it, but end of day depends on you :)

there's always getting an option of getting a 535i block and boosting. in Canada there's a co that has turbokits for the M30. plug n play, comes with everything. expect around 400whp. enuf for your 20 yr old car to smoke lotsa newer cars.

for mr 535i, i recommend adding another two FI e34s to go with his two big cc NA e34s. one 535 with big turbo american cowboy style and another 535 with twin turbo alpina style. got to do justice to the name. also don't need to worry about choice when the choice is choosing which to drive :)
