Seems to be more and more E34's running 1JZ/2JZ.Thought I'd start a thread for those with questions about this conversion. Hopefully the E34 1JZ sifu's can assist with some answers.

Let me start.....

Can you use the stock E34 fuel pump for the 1JZ? Or must change to higher capacity? How many are running with stock fuel pump?

hi bro seech....

as for fuel pump issue, if your car original is 525, or 528(e34 have a 528??i not sure) then the ori fuel pump should be enough if you are running a standrad 1jz... if 520 you got to change to a bigger capacity fuel pump, if you wan gaya... go for wabro (but alot of china made nowdays), otherwise MB w124, w126 2600cc and above fuel also a not bad choice:wink:

What about rear diff?someone told me that one must have lsd coz standard rear diff (dunno what reading) cannot tahan with the powerful engine..

you can use back your original rear diff, with just join the driveshaft.

but if you wan pefect... then need to use all 1jz driveshaft and rear diff, it need to chop the rear diff part abit, and it is quite costly, but end up result is nice nice....:listen:

Was thinking about a Walbro 255lph high pressure pump but if no need to change then can save some $$$. Wondering if too much flow would cause it to run rich at idle? I know its a bypass system with a return flow to the tank but wondering if the fuel pressure regulator would cause a restriction.

1 JZ install in progress.

Pictures of the 'modified' oil sump from the Soarer halfcut. The blank plate in the middle is where the engine struts will be mounted.

Hi Seech,

Keep the pics coming,.... its great to see a JZ 34 build progressing. Always nice to see the development.

Have fun bro.

Hi Seech, so you have gone the JZ route. Interesting, do keep us updated and please let me have a try when the car is ready. There's a 2JZ in an E38 740iL at Albert's place. Have you seen that car?

I wanna see... I wanna see ! Can ah Vince ?? :top::top:

Love the e38 but cant afford to maintain it lah so maybe a 2JZ would make it a little bit more viable

Hi Vincent. Yeah man... after much serious thought and $$$ invested in my M50 decided to go with the 1J.

Is the 2J E38 the one which was towed to his shop without the engine?

No that's not the car. The one you were referring to was a car from the used car dealers. The dealers sent the car to another mechanic but that mechanic after taking out the engine and got stuck and cannot proceed.

Hence they sent the car to Albert.

The car that I was referring to belongs to one of Albert's long standing customer. It's a very nice Black 740iL with 19" rims and Titans absorbers.

The conversion was very well done and you will never know it's a Jap engine. The interior is very neat using the BMW Meter cluster and gear shift knob & panels.

I was told that the conversion was done in Bentong or something like that. The workmanship for the wiring works alone was like RM6K.

Should drop by Albert's place and take a look. The mechanic I sent my car do does everything including wiring. Many cases where other workshops cannot 'kau teem' the wiring they send it to this mechanic. He's more specialized to jap cars and engines so I will still be taking my car to Albert if anything German goes wrong. Albert's very good with Bimmers and a nice guy. :top:

Some updates on progress....

Engine being test fitted in the engine bay before fabrication of engine struts.

There are some who say the 1J head done by Yamaha is better than the 2J. Flows better, it seems. Some even use the 1J head with 2J block to make 1.5JZ.
