E34 1JZ conversion workshop

dom...any ideas on what kind of turbos to go for if.....i'd like to have a twin setup and what kind of clutch is better for me to sought after for approx....410-430whp,torque around 52-55kgs.....?
 
jo: for you i dont know how to get such power ler, for me sup sup sui.... just go pump petronas97+Vpower+Esso then can get 400whp already rite??

Hey bro..... Really ah? I was following the speed limit exactly right? ;-)

Detailing not so much anymore.... Busy with my detailing products these days.

Now a days I see quite a few suspected 1/2 J's on the road these days...
 
Jo-e34...the 1 JZ performs better with a single Turbo..the likes of Garrett or Holset come to mind. Gt35r and most BB applications work wonders..I'm using Garrett T04E with T4 flange..
the trick is to get the right housing sizes..

dom,how bout the clutch? i've got an offer for a trd 3 puck c/w clutch cover and flywheel but i've got hks twin plate in mind,just wanted to know how does the trd puck compared to the twins any idea bro?
 
Dear all sifus who own an E36 318i with !JZ-GTE non VVTI. I notice my batteries dies very quickly. Are you guys still using the standard E36 batteries or you have to modified it in someways. Thanks in advance.
 
Jo-E34...clutch in my opinion is your feel or usage. IF you want to drag saja..need to get something grippy..if you just play play/daily driver..then something easy on the left leg. My original clutch like 'BATU' mann../I think the TRD is more suited for TOYOTAs...HKS..more 'heavy duty'. You might want to check other TOYota MOD forums. :)

between E34 chasis and E30 chasis..which is the good platform for 1jz AT?
my definition of good platform is:

1. good handling wise..
2. no engine bay heat issue..
3. other problems that might arise, eg: steering rack issue..long shaft issue..mounting issue..etc.

thanks guys..more questions to come after this.

i'm getting an E30 for 1jz conversion, previously was thinking of getting the E34, but mom says wants to drive smaller car, so E30 it is. I tried once an E30 with 1jz tt, that thing is insane, now i'm thinking of getting the vvti single turbo. any good workshop to recommend in K.L? and the workmanship of the transplant including the long shaft (which i'm quite worried because if it's not balance it'll vibrate and possibly break!). Now searching for the car. Thanks for the input.

Dear 1jz-GTE non VVTI owners.

Just to share.

This was what happen last night while driving home normally, I suddenly hear a bang and the dashboard indicator shows the battery sign and the steering was heavy for a few seconds and back to normal. Engine starts to squeal loudly. Park aside open up the bonnet to peep and guess what, the Crank Pulley was snap off clean from its mounting. I was very lucky that the Pulley was stuck in between the radiator fan and engine otherwise the whole thing will just drop of and smash any car who was behind me. Good thing I was not driving fast otherwise the Pulley might has cause serious internal damage like breaking the Radiator fan or metal hoses. Imaging if it snaps while doing 6000rpm. Scary. Another miracle was that after the Pulley snap clean off, the belt managed to hang on tight to the Pulleys mounting. By right the belt should have just flung out all over the engine bay, but it didn't. It was still tidy and neat pulling on other pulleys. Thank god. That keeps the water pump running and allows me to drive back home without any problem apart from the loud squealing noise. Truly thank God that I reached home safely. Did a few phone calls after that.

Will be searching for a 2J Crank Pulley to replace the stock 1J.

So guys, just a friendly advise. Don't neglect your Pulleys especially the Crank Pulley where there is most force on it. Keep a look out for warp or cracks on the Pulleys rubber mounting.

Solutions. Get a full steel Crank Pulley.

Pro: Will last most probably forever.
Cons: Will eventually screw up your crankshaft in long run or hard run. Probably needs a overhaul very often.

Dear sifus,

I got a problem with my E34 with 1JZ-GTE(non-vvti,2nd model), at night when i drive the car with lights and air cond the lights will start blinking according to idle speed but when moving it is ok. Are you all using the standard 1JZ alternator or have you convert it to a bigger alternator. People say that the original BMW alternator rating is higher. Hope all the gurus & sifus can help me out with this problem. Thank you.
